Agreed - and a similar shout out needs to go to SBMs, Office Crew, Cleaners, Caterers and Site Managers whose work is ESSENTIAL but often unnoticed and also deserve fair pay!
@kernowsbm @SLister15 @flahertylaura@educationgovuk@bphillipsonMP@CSTvoice It really depends on the size of school. L6 pay be appropriate for a 1 or 2 entry primary, but when you get to 3 & 4 form primary the level of responsibility increases, where more duties are delegated from the HT. DHT in a large Primary is more likely to be on L15 & AHT on L10.
@miconm@sbl365 @accidentalSBM @ruralSBM @SLister15 @MidlandsSBM@mrsslloyd@NAHTnews@SandwellNaht@dragon4758@ISBL_news@ASCL_UK As stated, DHT & AHT not prescribed JD, so why not add SBL to an equivalent leadership pay range. Agree there is a lot of difference, so why not allow HT & Gov freedom in LA schools to pay appropriately as they do for DHT & AHT. Current LA dictating pay have no idea.
@ruralSBM @accidentalSBM @sbl365 @SLister15 @MidlandsSBM@mrsslloyd@NAHTnews@SandwellNaht@dragon4758 I have no faith in @NAHTnews, been long standing issue that has dragged on for years. I feel that a cow will jump over the moon before any of unions sit up and get into gear. So disheartening. If all X SBLs got onto their unions about this, then just maybe. Feel like a lone voice
@sbl365@WomenEd@NAHTnews@ASCL_UK@SBLconnect@educationgovuk Just trying to raise the profile, it certainly isn’t the answer, but surely it all helps. Tired of waiting for others to do something, we need to band together and make ourselves heard.
Headteacher "Dear Recruiter, we want a School Business Leader, they must be a qualified accountant, by the way what is the difference between A Level Accounting, AAT and ACCA? We also need them to be highly competent in terms of HR, ideally qualified, since they need to jump between advising on the various complexes of the burgundy book and then chasing some references for cleaners. They also need to have experience in health and safety, COSHH, fire safety. Competent in managing ICT, both strategic and operational. Full understanding of various business legislation. Experience of being a company secretary as well. Managing and leading large teams is a must"
Recruiter "ok, that is a bit of an ask, but yes I may know a few potential candidates. What is the pay?"
Headteacher " budgets are tight, so they must start at 8am every day, 28 days leave, can only take that during school holidays but also must cover school holidays, be on site every day, and the pay is £38k"
Recruiter " "
