@gauravsabnis I don't know.. caste is a personal thing to ask.. absolutely should not be asked.. just like we should not ask someones salary.. "but are you a resevered candidate?" Can that be asked?.. just asking..
One piece of trash in the ocean can become a lifetime of pollution.
What we throw away today can remain in our seas for years, harming marine life, coastlines, and future generations. The choice is ours—reduce, reuse, dispose responsibly, and help keep our oceans clean.
Be the Change. Join the Movement.

@OdedRechavi While reviewing, decision on the importance of the paper reviewing, often comes from the emotion and enlightenment. Will machinistic decision maker AI can copy that.. more importantly will we allow that as a scientific community?
New research from Dr. Souvik Mukherjee’s group at BRIC-NIBMG, published in mSystems, explores the oral microbiome across pregnancy using the GARBHINI cohort.
The study identifies distinct microbial and functional signatures associated with term and preterm births, highlighting the oral microbiome as a potentially modifiable factor in pregnancy outcomes.

The Human Microbiome Research lab at @FollowDbtNibmg has sequenced the genome of Bacteroides fragilis isolated from a chronic wound infection. Normally a part of the healthy gut flora, B. fragilis can act as an opportunistic pathogen when present in wounds.
Whole-genome sequencing of this bacteria has enabled deeper insights into its resistance determinants and guides precision therapy in wound infections.

🧬Exploring Host–Microbiome Interactions in Preterm Birth & Early Childhood Growth Failure👶
At BRIC–NIBMG, Human Microbiome Research (HMR) team led by Dr. Souvik Mukherjee is dedicated to understand how (i) dysbiosis in maternal microbiome contribute to preterm birth and (ii) interactions between the child gut microbiome and host gene expression leads to early childhood growth failures (CGF) stunting, wasting, and malnutrition in first 1 year of life.
We are engaged in multi-institutional collaborations, working with large maternal (GARBH-Ini) and child intervention cohorts (WINGS, ciKMC) to decipher:
🔍 Host and metagenomic signatures associated with adverse birth outcomes and growth failures
📊 How nutrition, care, and WASH interventions shape the infant gut microbiome
🧪 Laying the groundwork for predictive tools and personalized interventions to prevent preterm birth & CGF.
From decoding the dysbiotic vaginal microbiome to mapping early-life gut microbial shifts, our mission is clear — to turn microbiome science into health solutions for mothers and children worldwide.

From your gut to the oceans, microbes play a vital role in sustaining life on Earth! Microbiomes aid digestion, boost immunity, support plant and animal health, regulate marine ecosystems, and influence biodiversity and climate.
@DBTIndia, continues to support research and innovation to better understand and harness microbiomes for a healthier planet.

The One Day One Genome initiative #ODOG of the @DBTIndia and iBRIC+ institutions, has been a steppingstone in showcasing the enormous microbial #biodiversity of India.
Release of 150 Bacterial Genomes by means of graphical abstract and summary on the social media handles has helped in demystifying the complex genomic data, making it more understandable and accessible for #Students and the general #public.
The mission highlighted unique bacterial microbes isolated from diverse regions across India, including Rann of Kutch in #Gujarat, the #Andaman Sea, Lonar Lake in #Maharashtra, caves of #Manipur, the Godavari River during the #KumbhMela and microbes from the Indian #Artic expedition. These microbes demonstrate remarkable potential in various sectors such as #agriculture, #healthcare, and environmental #Sustainability.
