@AccessibleGEO Hi all! I teach intro geology and planetary science, and try to squeeze in my science in the spaces between the classes/meetings. Right now - Mars, craters, 3d printing. I'm a wheelchair user due to a spinal cord injury, so add adapting to life on wheels, too.
@LarryNittler Might have 'learned' it? I probably type chondrite more often b/c ordinary and carbonaceous. Or there's some college grad making the dictionary at Apple who only remembered chondrites?
Autocorrect has decided that "achondrite" should be "chondrite" and "maria" must be capitalized. Is there a "planetary scientist" setting that I can use to avoid having to train this thing?
GSA Connects 2024 is coming up quickly! Will you be in Anaheim? The IAGD has multiple events scheduled during the conference. Find out what's happening when below:
@tashaldunn Love the tool, and all the NASA feeds trying it out! Immediately saved like a half dozen to my downloads folder, where I'll find them in a year and wonder what I was doing....
🚨 Attention scientists 🚨

A new selfie taken by @NASAPersevere today! She's looking dusty as she studies the fascinating rocks on the floor of Neretva Vallis on the edge of Jezero Crater... Image Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/S Atkinson
Okayyy time for the post-lunch low-hanging-fruit lineup
$40 for Kentucky
$80 for Arkansas
$90 for Tennessee
$110 for Missouri
$130 for Pennsylvania!!
We're 84% of the way to done! Please help me finish this so I can stop tweeting about it 💕💕💕💕

The longest-operating spacecraft at Mars just completed its 100,000th orbit!
Odyssey launched 23 years ago in 2001. In addition to relaying data for @NASA's Mars surface missions, it has mapped minerals and ice across the Martian surface and more. https://t.co/SL7xJ5TDI8
.@NASAJuno spacecraft, using its JIRAM instrument, has captured detailed infrared images of volcanic activity on Jupiter's moon Io. These images reveal the widespread presence of lava lakes and provide new insights into Io's volcanic processes.
Juno's close flybys have shown that about 3% of Io's surface is covered by molten lava lakes with a dynamic crust, constantly breaking and reforming. These observations enhance understanding of Io’s extreme volcanic nature and the mechanisms driving its eruptions.

*Geology fun for a Friday*/ Don't Miss Out! Submit your abstract for a technical or poster session at GSA Connects 2024 (22–25 September) in Anaheim, California, by Tues., 18 June, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Submit: https://t.co/eexl0zZvVX #Geology#GeologyRocks#GSA2024 #GeoConference
@NewBritHerald No for me, but several CCSU students and faculty in the Earth Science department have recounted feeling it on campus (especially in our 5th floor labs)
Wow! A M4.8 struck in New Jersey this morning around 10:30 am local time. Shaking was widely felt from Maine to Washington D.C. Did you feel this earthquake? Share your experience here: https://t.co/xdohQbzpcq
My former lab mate, Kristiana, is working on color blind friendly palettes for academic posters and looking for feedback- check out poster 547! #LPSC2024
This is a no due date program with a short proposal and no budget required initially. Only nonR1 institutions can apply, can participate for up to 5 years with funding for time and events like site visits. Again. Check the ROSES! #LPSC2024
The program pairs undergraduate students with ongoing mission so they can see what a career in planetary science might look like. A lot is virtual, but also includes social events at their university #LPSC2024
