@Under_DeSci If it's about signaling then injecting a few cells won't matter because they will acquire the host phenotype. If it's about the cells then signaling won't mater. It's likely the signaling, and the implanted cells give off some exosomes and other factors before they are rejected.
Stem cells vs. exosomes therapy isn’t just a technical debate. It’s a bet on what aging really is.
If young cells reverse aging → aging is cell intrinsic.
If young signals (exosomes) reverse aging → aging is cell extrinsic.
Scientists Reversed Aging in Monkeys. Humans Could Be Next
Scientists demonstrated that senescence resistant mesenchymal progenitor cells (SRCs), engineered with the longevity gene FOXO3, can not only halt aging but partially reverse it in aged macaques. 👀
Intravenous SRC treatment improved cognition, bone strength, and reproductive health without adverse effects.
Mechanistically, SRC derived exosomes reduced cellular senescence markers (p21CIP1, γH2AX), inflammation (IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-6), and oxidative stress, while enhancing heterochromatin stability (H3K9me3, lamin B1) and immune function.
This suppressed the cGAS-STING inflammatory pathway and promoted systemic rejuvenation.
This research suggests aging is not just inevitable decline but a treatable condition.
SRCs outperformed conventional stem cells, reversing multiple hallmarks of aging across organ systems.
The findings offer a proof of concept for human anti aging therapies.
A major step toward rejuvenation and longevity
Chinese researchers have presented an anti-aging therapy using genetically modified stem cells in Cell, which was tested in a 44-week trial on macaques. The so-called senescence-resistant cells (SRCs) were injected every two weeks without side effects or tumor formation.
The result: systemic rejuvenation across ten organ systems, from the brain to the bones. Cognition, fertility, and tissue regeneration improved measurably, and some markers of aging were reversed. The effect appears to be mediated primarily by exosomes, which reduce inflammation and stabilize cells—a possible new key to holistic age reversal.
Undergoing “StemCell reeducation” @ThroneBiotech - processed 10L of blood, extracting 300cc of white cells. Tonight those cells are co-incubated with cord blood stem cells to bring them to factory reset. I get them back tomorrow!!
We just got back from Taiwan. It’s bursting with exosome labs. Exosomes are already a cosmetic commodity. Do they actually work, and for what? We'll find out.
That's a paper we like. Restoring hypothalamic stem cells in mice extends lifespan, partly through exosomal miRNAs that decline with age.

@bryan_johnson The jury's still out. Other factors like age of donor, growing conditions, and therapeutic context (what you're targetting) may prove more significant than the source cell lineage.
