Akre Q3 2026 Update... tough times ...
'When evaluating each holding against its own 10-year valuation range, our companies’ median valuation is at its lowest 5th percentile. A third of our companies are in their lowest 1st percentile; over the past six months, 13 of our companies hit their lowest valuation over the past 10 years with minimal recovery thus far. Only one of our businesses currently trades above its median 10-year valuation.'
'...the market’s general disregard for high-quality businesses outside of the AI trade is also providing us with opportunities to add new names to the portfolio. We initiated small positions in TransDigm and Rollins that may grow over time, and there are other long-admired businesses we hope to add as well if valuations permit.'

Mark Zuckerberg says his daily caffeine intake is zero.
On Theo Von's podcast, when asked whether he drinks coffee, he said:
"Nah."
He said he might drink it occasionally on vacation, recreationally, almost like a celebration.
Then he started explaining why:
"I just hate anything that messes with... I don't like any kind of chemicals or anything like that."
When I heard that, I had to smile.
Did he want to say:
Anything that messes with my perception? My mind? My consciousness? My brain?
Dev Kantesaria is one of my favorite investors in the world.
He runs an extremely concentrated portfolio (and he has historically also).
Looking back at his holding history I couldn’t help but notice that 6/7 of his current holdings he has held since at least 2019.
I run a similar style where I invest in the best businesses I can identify and simply let them compound.
It’s really inspiring to see a great investor who doesn’t trade in and out of his positions and simply acts like an owner of the businesses.
Just watched Mohnish Pabrai's Wagons ETF ($WAGN) shareholder call (Sep 23). Here's what stood out to me 🧵👇
1. The name says it all. "Circle the wagons" means you guard your highest-conviction ideas. When redemptions come, those are the last things you sell. Great results usually come from a few great businesses held for a long time. The hard part isn't finding them, it's not selling them.
2. Reysas (Turkish logistics real estate) is the largest position. Mohnish caps his exposure at 30% across his funds, out of respect for the founding family. His rule: "We sell when the family sells."
3. On $RIG: yes, the debt is high. But after the Valaris merger, leverage drops sharply, and management wants to take debt to zero.
4. On $CSU.TO: Mark Leonard has fully stepped back for health reasons, but Mohnish believes the DNA is now hard-wired into the organization.
5. Met coal: he prefers Warrior over Alpha because Warrior sits at the bottom of the cost curve, "the Aramco of met coal."
6. He exited Mongolian Mining. He likes the business, but couldn't underwrite the risk of the government reopening mining terms. Knowing when you can't assess a risk is a skill too.
7. Method over labels. He doesn't think in terms of "cyclicals vs compounders." He looks at where a company sits on the cost curve, and at management's energy, creativity and integrity.
Huge thanks to @MohnishPabrai for sharing so openly and generously. These calls are a free masterclass in value investing. Grateful for the education. 🙏❄️

Chris Hohn just laid out one of the clearest maps of this market I've heard.
TCI's latest thinking, worth sitting with.
Start with the warning. He's uneasy on the macro: deficits with no brake, bond prices he sees still falling. The S&P isn't cheap or dear outright, but strip away the AI-capex earnings boom and the picture thins fast. Margins at a record 17% may not hold, and against real rates, equities sit at a 20-year high in valuation.
Then the list of what he won't touch, which is as telling as what he buys.
Software, gone.
He thinks the moats have evaporated and disruption is coming for the whole industry, and he backed the view by selling SAP (and Microsoft longer tike ago). Consumer brands, avoided "like the plague," because fashion turns and he won't bet on taste staying loyal, Nike's unravelling and LVMH's brutal de-rating as exhibits A and B. Cloud, mostly a pass too: five-to-six-year contracts with little visibility after, and no way to know if they're over-earning today. "Not the same as owning a physical road for 50 years." Alphabet's the lone exception, because it owns more of the stack itself.
Now what he's actually backing.
Aerospace, strongly, partly because it's one of the few industrial corners China doesn't dominate, with Airbus singled out for earnings he thinks can grow 70% over three years. And the ratings agencies, where he believes the market has it wrong: investment-grade demand lifted by the AI buildout, and the giant maturity walls underpinning the rest. Rising yields, in his read, are a reason the business gets stronger, not weaker.
Pull it together and a worldview emerges. Avoid what can be disrupted or fall out of favour. Own what sits behind a toll booth no one can build around, a certification regime, a duopoly, a wall of debt that must be refinanced.
It's the same question underneath every line: what can't be competed away?
That's the whole game.
Francois Rochon has 55% of his portfolio in just 10 stocks.

End of September 2026 portfolio update:
I'll get straight to the point. I decided to part ways with $FICO FICO at the beginning of September when shares were above $1,000. I lost money on this investment, but the damage was hardly noticeable considering the position size was very small. Zooming out, there was barely a dent in overall portfolio performance. That said, it still hurts to lose money, and it's painful to sell a business model that I once believed was the best in the world (they just made too many enemies, and perhaps got too greedy with pricing). Lessons learned!
Apart from that, I added slightly to $META Meta, $AMZN Amazon, and $BN Brookfield. There's a lot to get excited about in this market, but it's never been more important to allocate capital wisely with discipline.
With all the technological advancements and pace of change, investors are left with a simple question: Where are the best, most durable, long-lasting opportunities? And, where are the tactical opportunities to exploit? Quality investing is all about finding businesses that can reliably grow their value year after year, and holding them for the long haul. So, that's where my focus will remain.
