Today, hundreds of MPs walked past those absurd ads of women dancing in their pajamas, past disabled people protesting in the cold for their right to live—and voted for the #AssistedDyingBill anyway.
Watch @thelizcarr brilliantly explain what they overlooked.
Newly discovered footprints show that at least two hominid species were walking through the muddy submerged edge of a lake in Kenya’s Turkana Basin at the same time, about 1.5 million years ago.
The find in Science provides physical evidence for the co-existence of multiple hominid lineages in the region—something that has only been inferred previously from overlapping dates for scattered fossils. https://t.co/nZjFED3a66
I want to thank all my constituents who have written to me ahead of the assisted dying debate tomorrow. I've carefully considered your points and have decided not to support the Bill.
I understand the emotional nature of this topic, but I have serious reservations about this legislation. Ideally, I feel a proposal like this should be considered only on a UK-wide basis (the Bill does not apply to Scotland) and only at a time when palliative care is less strained than it is today.
I feel there's a significant risk that patients might feel burdensome to their loved ones and the state, potentially leading to pressure to pursue assisted death. I'm particularly worried about the impact on vulnerable groups like those with disabilities or mental health issues.
I'm committed to working towards a healthcare system where everyone feels secure and confident in receiving the highest quality care throughout their lives.
When we think of pollinators, we picture bees or birds, but even wolves can get in on the action!
In Ethiopia, the fiery blooms of Kniphofia foliosa lure Ethiopian wolves with sweet nectar. Can wolves be pollinators?

THIS JUST IN - BABY HOMOTHERIUM MUMMY FOUND IN SIBERIA!
It was only a matter of time before we got the rest of the Pleistocene fauna of this region in mummy form. More material for de-extinction maybe

We are calling for tighter restrictions on fireworks following the death of Roxie, our endangered red panda kit, on bonfire night.
Our expert vet team believe it's likely that three-month-old Roxie died due to stress caused by fireworks in the local area.
Our researchers have made it to the front cover of @Nature with their one-of-a-kind fossil bird discovery 🦆🦜🐦 The fossil, dating from the Mesozoic Era, is so well-preserved that the complete skull is almost intact💀#vertebrates#birds#palaebiology
What troubles me most about @kimleadbeater’s bill is that it places a legal obligation on the Secretary of State to ensure that assisted dying is available to patients for whom he’s under no such duty to provide adequate palliative care. 🧵 https://t.co/dUE35OkWft
If legalised, assisted suicide will be administered by the NHS
A letter signed by 3,400 healthcare professionals warns that inadequate health & hospice care means assisted suicide cannot be introduced safely while the NHS is broken
Even the best safeguards won't be safe enough
Why is the Yellowstone "landscape of fear" story so entrenched? In Effective Conservation Science: Data Not Dogma, Emma Marris suggests it's partly because humans are suckers for a good story.

After photographing and filming the rough sea yesterday I was shattered when I got in yesterday evening. Ready for an early night, and then the plan changed.
Aurora alert was red, so I quickly cleaned the lenses and headed out in the car.
Initially it was a non event. Strange light in the sky, but not much colour, then about 10pm it kicked off.
Lots of red was visible to the naked eye, and whilst in the darkness of Saltwick bay I got treated to a full colour display of reds greens and some upper level blue. It was amazing to sit near Saltwick nab with a heavy sea rolling in and multicoloured fogs hung like curtains in the night sky.
I visited lots of different venues and got some lovely images, whilst also taken the time to really appreciated the gift mother nature handed us.
Knowing that it was 25 years since I last saw such a display by eye, I stuck it out knowing I may never ever see this again in my remaining years.
Gone 4am I crawled into bed, aching to the bone, but so happy to see this special night.
