The concept is seer itself is part of dowry!!! This regime is investing in dowry symbolism instead of classrooms and careers for women. We don’t want state sponsored dowry in the name of welfare; we want better investment in schools, universities, scholarships and jobs. We as women will study, get a career of our own, will earn and buy our own gold. STOP treating us as brides, start treating us as citizens to be educated!!

Remember, leaders like Periyar emphasised the importance of educating women. And helping her have a career of her own!!! Not regressive seer/dowry system!
