Failures are productive. Success is rewarding. Both are incredibly useful if taken in the right view and cherished for the journey, not for the end outcome.
SpaceX is effectively the best neocloud right now...
SpaceX insists on short term leases only, so as long as compute keeps getting scarcer and the compute shortage curve keeps sloping up and to the right, SpaceX can keep raising prices.
On top of that, SpaceX has the best infrastructure buildout capability in the industry and its own compute demand, so it can absorb excess demand at any time. That is why it commands a premium of 2x, and as much as 3x, over competitors like IREN. ($60 billion per GW)
To track Nvidia's revenue, SpaceX is now the company to watch most closely. Until SpaceX ASICs come out of Terafab in 2030, it will devour more Nvidia chips, and more ravenously, than anyone else in the world. Wouldn't SpaceX easily absorb the slowdown in Nvidia chip demand caused by Google and other hyperscalers developing their own ASICs?
Infrared vs. traditional sauna. Are the benefits really the same?
I get asked this question constantly! My take is that infrared saunas can absolutely produce meaningful heat stress, but they're not necessarily equivalent to traditional Finnish saunas.
Traditional saunas heat the surrounding air, typically around 175-195°F, whereas infrared saunas use radiant heat and generally operate at lower temperatures (110-150°F).
The important question is how much thermal stress you're actually generating.
I personally prefer traditional Finnish saunas. Most of the compelling long-term evidence linking sauna use to lower cardiovascular mortality and dementia risk comes from traditional Finnish sauna studies.
But if infrared is what you have access to, I wouldn't dismiss it!
My recommendation would be to fully preheat the sauna and recognize that you may need a longer exposure to generate comparable heat stress. Importantly, there's no established temperature-duration formula that makes infrared equivalent to traditional sauna.
Infrared saunas can deliver substantial heat stress, but whether they produce the same long-term health benefits as traditional saunas remains an open question.
On the other hand, there is a growing body of evidence that IR saunas, as part of a clinical hyperthermia protocol, can have substantial antidepressant effects in people with major depressive disorder!
At the end of the day, it seems deliberate heat exposure (up to a point) is broadly beneficial however we get there.
Pi is one of the coolest projects in the AI world today. I'm on their team. Giving developers and companies choice of model, control over the runtime, data, skills, plugins… Excited to have great support on @vercel:

We found a way to scale humanoid control that reduces GPU-hours by more than 1000×.
Across 129,514 motions, SuperMimic surpasses the state of the art (128 GPUs, 7 days) with 1 GPU in 3 hours.

To clarify, Cap uses 440 MB of memory when actively playing back a video in the editor (1440p, M4 Max).
When idle with just the main window open, it uses 68 MB of memory and 0.00% CPU 🫡
We built a robotics data engine with Astra-level performance at 125x lower cost. And we are open-sourcing the weights today! Introducing Flora, a suite of open models to parse the physical world and turn raw footage into rich training signals.
Flora already powers our in-house data engine, labeling 200K hours of videos a day on 500 GPUs. We created it to scale the frontier for robot learning. Now you own the weights too.
Flora gives you:
- High-quality, timestamped captions to curate and filter human egocentric and robot data;
- Dense progress rewards for quality control and RL post-training;
- Rubrics scoring for real-world benchmarking

Sauna is my number one longevity intervention after exercise and diet.
A lot of what happens in the sauna overlaps with what happens during exercise, and sauna can even add to the benefits you’re already getting from exercise, including bigger gains in aerobic fitness and reductions in blood pressure.
Then there’s the long-term data - using the sauna 4 to 7 times weekly is associated with a 40% lower risk of all-cause mortality, a 50% lower risk of cardiovascular-related death, and up to a 66% lower risk of dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
Combined evidence from the physiology, exercise trials, and long-term data is a big part of why I take deliberate heat exposure seriously (and why you should too).
Introducing Herdr on boxd
@herdrdev keeps all your coding agents in one terminal. Now each one can run on its own boxd machine, right in herdr's sidebar. Close your laptop and they keep working. Open herdr again and every workspace is where you left it.

AI is on track to become a superhuman hardware designer, but design is only the beginning. The interface between bits and atoms is lossy, and turning designs into real hardware gets harder at every level:
1. Sourcing off-the-shelf parts that work together (a 2006 Falcon 1 engine test was delayed by one capacitor, in stock 6,000 miles away)
2. Custom parts, where a master machinist translates CAD into machine instructions
3. Assemblies, where every part can meet its drawing and still not fit
4. Outside vendors (even SpaceX has 591 employees with supply chain titles)
5. Doing all of it at a scale of 1,000,000
"Superhuman AI might be great at pure design, meaning at defining the platonically ideal part for a particular job, but struggle with 'design for manufacturing,' or finding a point design that meets the requirements while remaining easy to build/procure and inexpensive."

I'll admit that I am a fan of how Grok bot feels.
Which is why we are reverse engineering how it communicates for Hermes agents!
It goes way deeper than just the soul.md file
We're working on skills, tool interaction, pace of messaging, length, emoji reactions, character count, and more!

Technology moves in a direction that allows the average person to do things that’ll seem utterly magical to the peoples of the past.
Corollary: a high-leverage activity is to create technologies that help create more technologies, so that civilizational magic can be accelerated.
