I have been an academic for four decades. Our academic institutions are in very big trouble. The pursuit of truth is no longer valued. What is valued is "lived experience" and the marginalized portions of this are magnified so students dwell in what Susan Neiman calls the "forest of trauma" as they search for the "safe space" where they will not be confronted with any ideas with which they disagree. This is a disaster for education. For sure, truth is a problematic concept. Truth can only be probabilistic. But that does not mean that, for example, that "the earth is flat" and the "earth is not flat" are equally valid.
