@locust9 It's never been easier to learn, build and create with these tools. All of this anxiety is about some possible future world, while what's in front of them is limitless potential, and being in the drivers seat during a historic period of human evolution.
@SecondAmendment@LauraLoomer If it comes out of the mouths of any of those 3 (loomer, shapiro, walsh), it is a sponsored advertisement. I wouldn't assume any principle is backstopping their opinion. There's a reason you're only seeing support from "influencers"
@unusual_whales "Using AI" is not one thing. You can use AI to produce the output, in which case you learn nothing, or you can use AI to simplify concepts you're struggling with, increasing the speed of learning. If schools used AI as an endlessly patient tutor, scores would double.
@sbkaufman We don't know what it will be, and the definition of consciousness gets pretty fuzzy at the extremities. But, we do know it isn't conscious today. It has no inner self, theory of mind, or embodied experiences. LLM's accept a series of numbers, and output a series of numbers.
@johnennis Totally agree. The most important point being that it doesn’t mean they aren’t powerful. But, these aren’t conscious beings stuck inside of a silicon matrix. They are incredible probability generators.
That said, it’s inevitable we get an AI cult or two
@robert73624@SahilBloom Maybe you’re just actually obtuse. This is action. Yeah, duh, not a complex point.
A better example is listening to endless self help podcasts instead of actually improving your life. It gives people the feeling of doing something, without the doing.
@robert73624@SahilBloom Intentionally obtuse take. Obviously the point he’s making is that info gathering without action is just mental masturbation. It’s a hoarder mentality.
@deguerre@natesuits Not sure about sending the prompt, but for sure brevity, or concept efficiency. If I know you specifically chose each of those words, I’m learning more about how you think, and might follow the journey. If it sounds like AI, I just want you to get to the point.
@OwenBenjamin Funny how Owen is the perfect representation of what he claims to hate. A narcissistic, attention whore playing Wizard games. It’s like his book was warning you about who he is. And, stop trying to get me to like Rachel Wilson.
@ZeerosFate@OwenBenjamin@NateHaselton83@grok This is wrong , but in a completely different way than Owen, who is also wrong.
1\ you’re addicted to most of modern life. 2\ open source, and hosting your own models
@OwenBenjamin Funny how people expose themselves when talking about AI. That’s not what serious people use it for, that’s what you use it for; a fun search novelty that compliments you.
@OwenBenjamin@NateHaselton83@grok You’re way over your skis on this. The demand is real. The use cases in business are real. Literally everyone is using some form of AI in corporate work now, and the biggest problems these frontier companies have is serving the demand.
