📢ACCESS DENIED!!
Ever wonder how heterochromatin causes transcriptional gene silencing and is epigenetically inherited?
Excited to share our new story showing that histone deacetylation, a conserved feature of heterochromatin domains from yeast to mammals, limits access to SWI/SNF chromatin remodelers to prevent unraveling of nucleosomes, which enforces gene silencing and maintains high H3K9me3 density required for epigenetic inheritance

Preprint🚨on a new mechanism of genetic cheating in meiosis! 🧬We found that a mouse selfish DNA, R2d2, combines the elements of both male and female meiotic drivers! (gamete sabotaging in female meiosis)

📢An elegant dance between replication and histone retention for epigenetic inheritance!🥳Our new work shows that heterochromatin domains are specialized replication zones that preserve parental modified histones to ensure self-templated chromatin assembly https://t.co/JWXeySNvBC
