I'm excited to present a small method project of mine from @RutterLab! Here we designed a dual-purification system to isolate mitochondrial subpopulations based on their proximity to membranous organelles. All constructs will be available on Addgene soon!

Congrats to our superstar postdoc, @narbonaperez, for being awarded a UMDF Postdoctoral Fellow Grant! #Congrats#MitoMonday#UMDF 🎉🎉🎉
Many thanks to @UMDF for supporting Alvaro's promising work!

Excited to share our new paper: 'LASER couples damage sensing to ESCRT assembly for lysosome repair.' Congrats to dream team @clairegoul and @aakritijain24 for uncovering a new lysosome repair pathway and its connection to neurodegeneration. https://t.co/ZdGtlU0wke
We want to highlight a new collaborative project, led by @yliu_UofU lab with help from our superstar @UofUHematology Fellow @N8Krah, on the implementation of a novel CRISPR-Cas system to selectively kill cancer cells! #RisingStar#CRISPR
Two for Thursday: We want to highlight another fantastic collaboration, this time with William Oldham's lab at Brown University and our @N8Krah, demonstrating that MCT4 is a druggable target in pulmonary fibrosis. Check it out here: https://t.co/W5a3hERl30 @UofUHematology@huntsmancancer
Congrats to everyone involved!
🧬 New paper out in @Nature! We used CRISPR to selectively kill cancer cells based on a single-letter mutation in their RNA. The story I want to highlight: KRAS — one of the most notorious drivers of human cancer. A short thread on what we found 🧵

Thrilled to share our new paper: SLC33A1 is the long-sought ER GSSG exporter, maintaining redox homeostasis in the ER. Huge congratulations to my co-first author @shanshanliu1218 and my PIs @KivancBirsoy and @HiteLabMSKCC for leading this work. https://t.co/hhsiYw1jXB 🧵 1/9
We are excited to announce that our recent collaborative paper, led by the superstar duo Rebekah Nicholson and Luis Cedeño-Rosario, which identified how ceramides alter mitochondrial structure and function after acute kidney injury was selected to participate in #STATMadness! Check it the press release here: https://t.co/kCoLb7ScUx

A century ago, “vitamin hunters” discovered micronutrients. Today, vitamins are taken adhoc. We revisited this with modern genetics: CRISPR screens -> new NAXD disease mouse -> over 40× lifespan increase w/ vitamin B3. Huge credit to Ankur & Skyler! https://t.co/0cRmrng7ux

Excited to share that my PhD work on ER mito contact sites is finally out at @MolecularCell! Big shout out to @stark2_d to take this across the finish line, and @YatrikShahLab and @LyssiotisLab for their guidance as always!
Most people eat small (~1-2% body weight) and frequent (2-3x/day) meals. But Burmese pythons 🐍🐍 can fast for >1 yr and eat 100% of their weight in a single meal. What happens in snakes after eating? What lessons they can teach us about human physiology? https://t.co/BzvQeMf8np
Really thrilled to share our work on mitochondrial presequence strength @JCellBiol. We establish quantitative parameters to better define "strong" and "weak" presequences in vitro and in vivo. This work was spearheaded by the ever talented Youmian Yan, a grad student in my lab.
Qiuyuan Yin, Chonglin Yang et al. reveal a plasma membrane-to-lysosome signaling pathway mediated by the non-receptor tyrosine kinase FGR and the serine/threonine kinase AKT2, which regulates TFEB/TFE3 activation for #lysosome biogenesis in #endocytosis. https://t.co/TzOlQLtac6
Congratulations to Institute Scholar Monther Abu-Remaileh for winning the 2026 Walter A. Shaw Young Investigator Award in Lipid Research! https://t.co/2iGT6FsaMT
