OK, I’ll bite. We, as scientists, believe our work has value to society. Enough value that we ask for funding from taxpayers and philanthropists. We should be able to justify this value.
Our work on human urate transporter is out @cell_res. @YaxinDai
single-handedly drove this project, which revealed the transport and drug mechanism of URAT1. We are grateful for the tremendous support from @StJudeStructBio

New work from our lab’s genomics guru @ArtemAKhan with @egamazon. Artem generated a new platform for metabolic gene discovery and identified the mitochondrial choline transporter. @RockefellerUniv@NatureGenet https://t.co/WoeNLFmqJB
Very grateful to give a webinar for BRIC on June 18th Tuesday, 11am KST (or June 17th Monday 10pm EST!) about my recent work on the high-affinity choline and ethanolamine transporter, FLVCR1. https://t.co/9rhsf6GXGv
Very grateful that I am invited to give a webinar for ASBMB Lipid Research Division on May 29th, 12-1pm EST. You can register to attend the webinar via the ASBMB website below. Looking forward to meet and discuss research with everyone!

Our collaboration with @WillPPK on NOX5 is out. We captured NOX5 in different activation states, and used MD simulation to explore the initiation of electron transfer. An unexpected Zn finger was also identified that is critical for function. https://t.co/6sZUaC0wqn

Congratulations @HiteLabMSKCC@MSKCancerCenter!!
My favorite part: residues specifying Etn vs Cho uptake. Potential clues for evolution of nutrient uptake programs?
Excited to share our study on a high-affinity choline and ethanolamine transporter, FLVCR1, published today at Nature. I am grateful for my doctoral advisor ,@HiteLabMSKCC , my co-authors and collaborators, @TimCKenny, @ArtemAKhan, and @KivancBirsoy. https://t.co/EgsnhHnQzu

Congratulations to all of the authors and to @RosemaryJCater@pippomancia and colleagues for their identification of the related FLVCR2 as the blood brain barrier choline transporter, published along side our paper @Nature
Structures of choline- and ethanolamine-bound FLVCR1 revealed that the metabolites differentially bind to a common transport site, which enabled identification of mutants that uncouple choline and ethanolamine transport.
Authors from @MSKCancerCenter: @HiteLabMSKCC, @labnavid and @VinaySapuru report structures of IP3 receptor with insights into the biphasic dependence on Ca2+ for channel activity.

BREAKING: Congratulations to now Associate Professor James Letts @LettsScience for his promotion with tenure. @ucdavis is lucky in having you on the faculty.
Exciting work from @TimCKenny and @KivancBirsoy identifying FLVCR1 as a mammalian choline transporter! Congratulations to everyone involved in this fun project!
Congratulations @SteveBrohawn and @kerndm on the new story! Really exciting to how much you have been able to learn about the heteromeric channels and their regulation by lipids.
Great to see our story led by @kerndm on LRRC8A:C volume regulated anion channels in its final form! Lots of new data since the preprint including structures of a mutant that disrupts lipid block of the pore to activate the channel https://t.co/peK7RDXn7r
