Over 40 stakeholders from national and county government, media, creative arts, influencers, and civil society convened in @KilifiCountyGov to deepen a shared understanding that clear, ethical, and responsible communication is critical in preventing and countering violent extremism, addressing harmful narratives, and strengthening community trust.

Implemented under the Kenya–EU partnership and aligned to Kenya’s #PCVE Strategy 2025–2030, the Communication and Media Stakeholders' Capacity Building Forum strengthened skills in planning and implementing effective PCVE campaigns and responsible messaging.

Together, we continue to build resilient communities, credible voices, and social cohesion.

Honored to represent YOWPSUD at the 3-day Regional Communication Strategic Workshop on PCVE. In my roles as Portfolio Lead for Peace & Security, Climate & Food Security, and Head of Communications, I was privileged to contribute perspectives on how responsible media and community voices can strengthen prevention of violent extremism.

As the Head of the CEF Working Group on Training and Capacity Building under the #NSPCVE implementation framework, this forum was highly relevant in shaping practical activities that align county action plans with the Communication & Technology Working Group. I was glad to present our group’s proposals as a media practitioner and journalist, which focused on interventions to be implemented by media practitioners before, during and after the electioneering period including proactive reporting, counter-narratives, unified information management, and strengthened coordination between media, CSOs and government to prevent hate speech and violence.

Grateful to @NCTC_Kenya for this impactful training and for empowering us to translate policy into community-centered action that protects lives, promotes peaceful elections, and upholds national values.

✨ Yesterday I had an amazing time on @blueradioKe at the #PwaniVina show! 🚀

🎶 I shared the story behind #PrimeSuspect and the ongoing #SuicideAwareness radio tour for #Tintdoorsnchill, using music to spark real conversations on mental health.

💡 I also spoke about the #MwanamkeImara program, implemented by @SFCG_Kenya and @YOWPSUD_, supported by @CanHCKenya, which works to strengthen women’s leadership in PCVE within security and justice institutions.

🌍 In addition, I highlighted my involvement in the Kilifi County Action Plan remodelling, where we are shaping strategies for Early Warning and Response. It’s important for artists to take part in such county engagement forums, not just as entertainers, but as influencers who can push critical agendas, amplify community voices, and inspire action through creativity.

As an artist, I choose to use platforms like these not only to share my music, but also to highlight programs that matter. Music is more than entertainment; it’s a mirror of society and a microphone for the voiceless. Women are often the backbone of resilience in our communities, yet their voices are left out too frequently.
By connecting my journey with #MwanamkeImara, I’m reminding us that the struggles in my songs, mistrust, identity, resilience, and survival are tied to the broader fight for peace, inclusion, and justice.

🌍 From #EllavationDays to #Tintdoorsnchill, my story is about resilience, growth, and purpose. Advocacy and art together make an impact, and I’m grateful for every platform that allows me to bridge the two.
