@DavidAMarkowitz I wonder if it is going to be really hard to bring that excess death number down, as many of the non-long-covid chronic effects from organ damage might take years to manifest even if infection levels go down...
This is your 4 day warning!!!! Please apply for our internships and post-bacc positions I can’t wait to meet the new cohorts. #neuroscience#cellscience#Immunology
Hi science friends, there still might be some bugs to fix or design decisions to improve, but I want to introduce you to Crackle dense 3D segmentation image compression. It uses crack codes (the edges between voxels) to represent boundaries.

Help! I need a PhD level Computational Biologist/Bioinformatician because these magnificent(!!) Spatial Transcriptomics datasets from *human* Alzheimer's donors will not analyze themselves.
Please send your smartest early-stage scientists my way!
🚨 Opening for a PhD position in Neuroscience 🧠
If you are excited about EM based connectomics and Plasticity of circuits and would like to work in Berlin, send me an email with your CV and motivation letter.

I’ve made this video as an intuition pump for the density of #synapses in the #brain. This volume ~ grain of sand, has >3.2 million synapses (orange cubes). Peeling them away leaves only inputs on 2 #neurons. Zooming in, we see the synapses localized to the dendritic spines.

I put together a short video to appreciate the dense connectivity, using the Allen MICrONS layer 2/3 dataset (decimated). I randomly make neurons appear until the whole block is filled, then I animate camera clipping to give the appearance of peeling.#b3d#neuroscience

@BWJones@manorlaboratory Ugh.. and we just relaxed our own masking policy further, despite having 'unprecedented' ER wait times at Seattle Children's hospital since September. Keeping my mask on.
A postdoc position is available in my group. Background in dynamical systems and data-driven control a plus. If interested, please send me your CV or see me at #NeurIPS2022 Please retweet
Igneous, our Python software for managing Neuroglancer 3D images, meshes, and skeletons, is now published open access in Frontiers in Neural Circuits!

New beam deflection TEM facility @PrincetonNeuro with 4TB/hr cumulative acquisition rate for high-throughput connectomics.
Despite the pandemic, @zhihaozheng@ProjectVoxa@Eric_Hammer_ TSSmicroscopy, EMQSO and the @Princeton team pulled it through and got it up and running.
Excited to share beam deflection Transmission Electron Microscope (bdTEM), a fun and productive collaboration with @ProjectVoxa. https://t.co/lgSeGpRkSs (1/5)
