Environmental challenges continue to evolve, and EPA's scientific capabilities must keep pace.
Tune in tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. ET as we examine EPA's research activities and the Agency's approach to meeting future challenges.
Environmental protection depends on sound science and informed decision-making.
Tune in to tomorrow's hearing at 10:00 a.m. ET as we examine EPA's research activities and the scientific foundation that supports the Agency's mission.
Today marks 61 years since the first American spacewalk. For over half a century, @NASA has continued the spirit of ingenuity and exploration, pushing the boundaries of what humanity thought possible.
How do science and technology advance environmental protection?
Join us Thursday at 10:00 a.m. ET as the Environment Subcommittee hears from Dr. Maureen Gwinn and examines EPA’s research activities and the role of science in Agency decision-making.

Environment Subcommittee Hearing: “Advancing Environmental Protection Through Science and Technology”
📍 2318 Rayburn House Office Building
Building on the momentum of a powerful Tuesday, Day Two of the ASCEND Commercial Space Policy Summit — hosted by the @csf_space — raised the bar even further.
CSF assembled an extraordinary roster of executives, engineers, and policymakers for a day of critical conversations that underscored why the commercial space industry is the most consequential sector of our time. Wednesday's programming tackled the defining challenges and opportunities facing U.S. commercial space through seven powerhouse panels — One Small Step: Perfecting Public-Private Partnerships, Pixel Perfect: How Landsat and Commercial Capabilities Are Changing the View, Survive the Night: Building America's Lunar Base, Edge of Tomorrow: Next-Generation National Security Space, Supply Chain Divergence: Balancing Rigor, Agility & New Era Market Dynamics, Competition with China — REDSHIFT Update, and What's Next for Space Policy on Capitol Hill? — alongside a series of compelling fireside chats and a keynote address from Dr. Brian Babin, U.S. Congressman (TX-36) and Chair of the @housescience .
CSF is grateful for every speaker, moderator, and attendee who made ASCEND 2025 an unforgettable success. Until next year!

Chairman @RepBrianBabin: "I’ve received an initial briefing from NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman and Blue Origin regarding last night’s New Glenn explosion at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. As the investigation moves forward, we will work to fully understand the cause of this incident and assess any implications for Artemis and our broader lunar exploration goals. Maintaining momentum toward America’s return to the Moon remains a national priority."
NASA is aware of the anomaly that occurred tonight at Launch Complex 36 involving Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Spaceflight is unforgiving, and developing new heavy-lift launch capability is extraordinarily difficult. We will work with our partners to support a thorough investigation of this anomaly, assess near-term mission impacts, and get back to launching rockets.
We will provide information on any impacts to the Artemis and Moon Base programs as it becomes available.
In February 2023, PRC-affiliated Volt Typhoon compromised a Massachusetts water facility. Last month, CISA warned that a U.S water facility was hit with over 1,900 hacking attempts from Iran’s IRGC.
Modern warfare is now a confrontation between opposing operational systems rather than merely opposing armies—and our adversaries, namely Iran, are currently seeking to disrupt and destroy the operational capabilities of the key systems facilitating the functions of our drinking water and wastewater utilities.

.@NASA is moving at a pace we have not seen since Apollo, with contracts already awarded to American companies for a permanent moon base just two months after Artemis II.
The lunar economy, the gateway to Mars, and the next century of human exploration are all being built right now by American hands.
During a @housescience committee markup, I introduced an amendment to accelerate the commercialization of cutting-edge geothermal projects to meet America’s energy needs.
This proposal amends the Next-Generation Geothermal Research and Development Act by prioritizing geothermal projects that intend to power high-load-factor facilities when the Secretary of Energy is considering grant awards. Federal dollars should prioritize projects that are oriented toward meeting the highest energy demands. Watch my full remarks here. ⤵️
America’s water systems are under growing cyber threat from foreign adversaries and ransomware gangs, putting public health and critical infrastructure at risk.
I chaired a @HouseScience Environment Subcommittee hearing on how environmental research & development can strengthen these critical systems against cyberattacks. From foreign adversaries to ransomware gangs, these attacks pose a serious risk to our public health and critical infrastructure, especially for small and rural utilities.Protecting our water infrastructure is a public safety priority and a national security imperative.
.@INL#CyberInformedEngineering program manager Ginger Wright testified before the Environment Subcommittee of @housescience on the urgent need to secure U.S. water systems from #cyberthreats.💧🌐

To every family grieving the loss of a loved one who didn’t make it home, thank you for your sacrifice. This Memorial Day, may we never forget that freedom isn’t free and the price so many paid for it.
Chairman @RepBrianBabin served as the keynote speaker at the Commercial Space Policy Summit during ASCEND 2026 earlier this week, where he discussed the future of commercial space and the importance of maintaining American leadership in orbit and beyond.
“For the first time in history, space is no longer driven solely by governments. It is powered by American innovation, American industry, and the unmatched ingenuity of the private sector.”
Our Committee held an informative hearing today on strengthening the cybersecurity and resilience of America’s water and wastewater systems against evolving threats.
Thank you to our witnesses for joining us and sharing their valuable expertise on this important issue.

Yesterday @housescience passed my Next-Generation Geothermal Research and Development Act. Here is what that means for you:
⚡The earth's core produces enormous heat that we can convert into electricity, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, regardless of weather
🔬 This bill funds the research to actually get to it and bring it to market
💰 More power on the grid means lower bills and a more reliable grid
Your electricity bill keeps going up and the grid keeps struggling to meet demand, but this will help fix it.

America’s water infrastructure supports millions of Americans every day, but growing cyber risks continue to challenge the security of these essential systems.
TODAY at 2:00 p.m. ET, we’ll examine the technologies, research, and partnerships helping strengthen cyber resilience across the water sector.
