One of the things you learn as a scientist is the ability to look at a plot and think, "that just doesn't look right." That's the feeling I got when I saw this plot that Lomborg is currently pushing.
In support of the #IPCC#ClimateReport, @NASA has partnered with the @IPCC_Ch to provide a visualization and delivery tool for the sea level projections in Chapter 9: https://t.co/D0O6TFNOrR (1/6)
Steven Weinberg, one of the most preeminent physicists in history, passed away.
Here's his four lessons, published in Nature back to 2003:
☑️ No one knows everything, and you don't have to
☑️ Aim for rough water
☑️ Forgive yourself for wasting time
☑️ learn history of science
@geoffjstanley Cool. Are you calculating Omega surfaces online (while the model is running) or offline? Follow up with email? Ian dot Fenty at JPL NASA gov
@geoffjstanley I see that the your examples were calculated using output from ECCO2 and OCCA. It would be cool to add neutral surfaces to the set of 3D fields included in the official ECCO Central Estimate, too!

My friend and colleague Shanice Bailey is leading development of an oceanography-themed outreach program that will teach high school students how to code. We will pilot it early next year. I love working with Shanice and I'm really excited about this project. Read the interview:
How do #emissions from meat, dairy and other foods compare?
The climate impact of beef and lamb dwarfs that of other foods.
But producing #beef is more than twice as carbon intensive as producing lamb (@_HannahRitchie@OurWorldInData).
