I extend my heartfelt wishes to all Ethiopians for a Happy New Year! May 2025 bring peace and unity to our beloved country.
This New Year message is dedicated to the thousands of innocent Ethiopians who have suffered under the @AbiyAhmedAli regime, including thousands who were killed, imprisoned, displaced, and those whose homes were unjustly demolished.
Let 2025 be the year #Ethiopia abolishes ethnic federalism and begins to treat all its citizens equally, regardless of ethnicity or religion, with respect for human rights at its core. May it also mark the end of the unjust war against the #Amhara people, including the targeting of innocent civilians with drones, tanks, and starvation.
May this be the year Ethiopia stops the ethnic-motivated mass arrests of civilians, journalists, and opposition figures, and instead embraces peaceful resolutions to legitimate grievances. Let this be the year all Ethiopians experience freedom—the freedom to travel, work, provide for their families, and send their children to school without fear of abduction by OLA terrorists.
May 2025 bring food security, the repatriation of internally displaced persons, and freedom of expression and press. Let it be the year political prisoners, journalists, civic leaders, and opposition members are released.
Above all, may this New Year be the beginning of healing for Ethiopia and its people.

@YoumABF2@AbiyAhmedAli Abiy Ahmed and his army of savages must be stopped from killing civilians. All peace loving people should condemn ethnic cleansing in Ethiopia.
In the past year, the Ethiopian government under @AbiyAhmedAli and his #Oromo extremist army has been responsible for the deaths of thousands of #Amharas through drone strikes, heavy weaponry, extrajudicial killings, and starvation. Reports indicate over 50,000 civilians, including women and children, have been killed, with 4.5 million displaced and 5 million students out of school. Abiy's forces have also destroyed hundreds of schools, clinics, infrastructure and places of worship in the Amhara region. Furthermore, approximately 100,000 Amhara intellectuals, politicians, journalists, and students suspected of opposing the regime have been arbitrarily arrested, with many their whereabouts remaining unknown.
The ongoing ethnic motivated war against Amhara and rampant corruption have severely impacted Ethiopia's economy mostly in Amhara region. Tourism has nearly collapsed, especially since many historical and popular destinations, such as Gondar, Lalibela, and Bahir Dar, are in Amhara region.
Businesses, including hotels, restaurants, and transportation services, have scaled back or ceased operations. Even Chinese investors are pulling out, and factories are facing significant production declines due to the ongoing conflict and shortages of essential supplies. Farming activities have also decreased, leading to a tripling of food and household item prices this year, leaving many families struggling to make ends meet.
#Amharamassacre has been well documented by organizations such as @hrw@Amnesty and the @UN. Yet the international community, including the @Biden administration, @EU and @AU has largely turned a blind eye to these atrocities, enabling the Abiy regime's campaign against the Amhara people.
It is crucial for the global community to urgently pressure the Abiy regime to halt ethnic cleansing of Amharas
and prevent a large scale civil war in Ethiopia. The ongoing silence has enabled Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to intensify his attacks on civilians, journalists, and civic leaders, further destabilizing Ethiopia and the surrounding region.

Ethiopian Defense Force drone attack in Addis Zemen city, South Gondar, Amhara Region, killed innocent people gathered to celebrate the Meskel Demera (Finding of the Cross) holiday. The strike occurred today near St. Michael Church. The number of casualties is still unknown. Some of the victims were selling Demera bundles. #WarOnAmhara
@YoumABF2@AbiyAhmed The butcher of Amhara, @AbiyAhmedAli has to go. All Ethiopians and friends of Ethiopia should rise against this brutal dictatorship.
አብይ ይውረድ!
@AbiyAhmed must resign for peace to return to Ethiopia. The people of Ethiopia and all peace-loving individuals around the world should demand his resignation to prevent further civil war and disintegration of the country.
The recent killings of innocent #Amhara civilians in Gondar and Minjar, Amhara region, by Abiy regime are both despicable and blatant disregard of human rights.
Since the Abiy regime came to power, Ethiopia has been plagued by relentless war and conflict. Abiy Ahmed is the only Ethiopian leader who has openly waged war against Amhara civilians. Even Meles Zenawi, the architect of ethnic division and Amhara hatred, did not kill Amharas in such a brutal manner.
Under @AbiyAhmedAli, the Ethiopian military has been conducting brutal assaults using drones and heavy artillery, committing war crimes against Amhara civilians, schools, medical professionals, patients, and health facilities in the Amhara region. Since March 2023, civilians, particularly women and children, have suffered immensely due to Abiy's war against the Amhara people.
The Abiy government's war against the Amhara has led to over 100,000 deaths, millions displaced, and over seven million requiring food aid. 5 million children out if school. Tourism and buisness in Amhara region has been significantly reduced. The human disaster in the Amhara region is of biblical proportions and has been deliberately ignored by the international community.
The US and international community's silence has allowed the Abiy regime to continue the #AmharaMassacre and #EthnicCleansing in Ethiopia. The @JoeBiden, AU, and international community are complicit in the massacre of innocent civilians. It is crucial for the global community to condemn and act to stop the ongoing violence against Amhara civilians and demand that @AbiyAhmedAli end hostilities before #Ethiopia plunges further into civil war. Waiting for a death toll comparable to the @RwandaGenocide before taking action is unacceptable.

@YoumABF2@US@imf@World@AbiyAhmedAli The international community knew all along the Amhara Massacre by Abiy army. It's well documented by HRW, Amnesty, and EHRC. They do not care.
Only Fano can stop Abiy and his troops from Amhara ethnic cleansing.

@YoumABF2@AbiyAhmedAli The average Ethiopian and working class will be suffering because of @AbiyAhmedAli misguided decision to devalue the birr. The price of food will be skyrocketing in the coming days.
@YoumABF2@AbiyAhmedAli The @AbiyAhmedAli misguided decision to float and devalue the Birr will hurt the majority of Ethiopians since it will increase inflation, prices of food items, gasoline and essential items will increase significantly. Very bad decision for a country at war.
Devaluation will complicate daily life for many Ethiopians, as its drawbacks are likely to outweigh any potential benefits. Floating exchange rates tend to be more effective in countries with stable, effective monetary policies and a strong export sector. Since Ethiopia is a net importing country, the cost of importing goods and raw materials will rise as more local currency is needed to purchase the same amount of foreign currency.
Although there may be a brief influx of dollars initially, this effect will be short-lived. Given that Ethiopia is currently at war, it will face ongoing challenges in attracting foreign investment and tourism. Meanwhile, food and commodity prices are expected to soar, leading to significant hardship for the majority of the population.
The @AbiyAhmedAli regime's decision to float and devalue the ETH Birr is likely to exacerbate the already fragile Ethiopian economy, making it even harder for most citizens to manage daily expenses. As living costs rise, the impact will be severe for the majority of the population, while the wealthy and those in power might benefit. The poor, in particular, will face increasing difficulties affording food and other essentials.
This devaluation is particularly detrimental given the ongoing war in the Amhara region. The economy is already weakened, with a severe shortage of foreign exchange. The Ethiopian birr has already depreciated dramatically: when Abiy came to power, the exchange rate was US$1 to 27 birr, but as of last week, it had reached $1 to 57 birr, and today it stands at 72 birr following the recent devaluation. On the black market, the rate has soared to $1 to 120 birr. As the birr continues to lose value, the prices of food and essential goods will rise further, making them unaffordable for most.
Businesses such as hotels, restaurants, and transportation services are either reducing operations or shutting down. Foreign investors are leaving, leading to a shortage of foreign currency. Factories are struggling with reduced production due to a lack of essential supplies, and inflation has surged to 48%, with food and household item prices doubling this year. The situation is dire, with a large portion of the population struggling to feed their families.
While the goal of the devaluation is to attract foreign exchange and investment and boost exports, the timing and impact of this decision are likely to cause more harm than good. The Abiy regime should focus on addressing the ongoing conflict and curb corruption rather than devaluing the currency. The current environment of hyperinflation is set to worsen, further straining the economy and increasing the hardship faced by Ethiopian people.
