Proud to share what we hope will be a reference study on human oocyte proteostasis. Young-donor eggs show globally reduced organelle activity vs. somatic cells, with an even steeper drop as they mature.

📣 Paper alert!! Excited to share the 2nd research paper from my time in the @LabBoke at @CRGenomica, out today in the @embojournal!
We asked: "how do human oocytes regulate proteostatic organelles under physiological conditions?"
We collaborated with @DexeusMujer and employed #healthy human oocytes freshly donated for heterologous IVF

It was amazing to participate in #PeopleinRed fundraiser gala, as a guest of the mayor of Barcelona! A lovely reminder that science reaches far beyond the lab -- EB
Thank you to organisers Lydia Finley @lydfinley and Wilhelm Palm @WilhelmPalm and everyone who joined us at this week's Workshop on 'Revisiting Metabolic Fundamentals'

@FulkaLab@euvlook Good luck! We tried checking DNA damage as a control for something completely different a while ago but failed to repeat the literature. We gave up & used different controls in the end :), but I’d be very interested to see if you (or someone else) get to the bottom of this -EB
I’ve been wondering about conference norms.
When I can’t attend an invited talk, I offer to send my postdoc who led the relevant work; but this is basically never accepted by organisers.
When I organize meetings, I’m more than happy for postdocs to step in.
Honored to receive a La Caixa Junior Leader Fellowship
@BecariosFLC at @CRGenomica. This recognition will support our research on oocyte dormancy and proteostasis for the next 3 years🥚! Big thanks to previous funders @EMBOFellows & MSCA @EU_Commission and to @LabBoke@the_prbb
It was a tough #poster design session last night! 😆
Next week I'll be at the @EMBO#conference "Structure and function of the cytoskeleton" in #Paris, where I'll present the actin-dependent regulation of our favorite endolysosomal super-organelles in #oocytes.
If you're interested in how endolysosomal transport depends on #actin in the acentrosomal mouse oocyte, come visit me at poster 199 in session 4, on Thursday!
100% #cat-approved design! 🤪
The Frenster Lab is here! 🍾 I am so excited to start my #EmmyNoether funded group at @UniFreiburg this summer. Our group studies #CellCompetition dynamics during embryonic development using #gastruloids from multiple species. https://t.co/wYdVD6V2kT
Securing two group leader positions at the same institute is no small feat.
From IMP postdocs to group leaders: Laura Lorenzo-Orts and Ulrich Hohmann started their labs at IMB Mainz this year: https://t.co/GMgmO6564S
Three more weeks to apply and join us in Barcelona!
Help us understanding how oocytes regulate proteostasis and fertility!

Searching for a motivated Master’s student @LabBoke@CRGenomica@the_prbb to investigate how proteostasis in oocytes influences dormancy and fertility.
Reach out to me ([email protected]) to join us in sunny Barcelona!
