We've had data centers in southwest Missouri for decades. Springfield Underground undercuts our utility rates and strengthens our grid. Now a report by @bitcoinpolicy confirms a foreign-funded network is pushing to ban them.
I won't let propaganda write Missouri's future.

Super interesting article in the Times by @dnvolz and @stevenleemyers. It's easy to conflate these influence operations as a dismissal of all criticisms surrounding data centers, and I think that's wrong and it's important to have good faith debate. But. https://t.co/TYrornJNsp
Bombshell reporting in the New York Times today: "China, Russia and Others Seek to Inflame Debate Over A.I. Data Centers"
You are being lied to by malicious foreign influences about the benefits of AI and the infrastructure that powers it.
Do not let them win!
NEW: The New York Times reports that "China, Russia and, to a lesser extent, Iran have sought to use state media outlets to turn the controversy over data centers in the United States into 'a domestic fracture point.'"
Between Jan. and June, state media from these 3 countries mentioned data centers 700 times.
The NYT report cites BPI's research and highlights the work of Chinese propagandists and "covert Russian information operations" to foment anger against data centers.
Our latest report maps a foreign influence campaign aimed at stalling American AI.

🚨NEW: Senator @RonWyden (D-OR) is asking Senate leaders to preserve the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act, as passed by the Senate Banking Committee, in any version of the Clarity Act brought to the floor.
It comes amid uncertainty over whether certain key law enforcement groups will accept the BRCA language and whether changes will be needed to win their support, as well as the votes of other Democratic senators like Senators @CortezMasto and @MarkWarner.
In a letter to Thune and Schumer, Wyden says the provision would codify existing federal policy by clarifying that non-custodial software developers should not be treated as money transmitters solely for publishing software, while preserving the DOJ’s and FinCEN’s ability to pursue illicit actors.
Wyden was the Democratic co-sponsor of the standalone BRCA legislation in the Senate alongside @SenLummis.
A Shanghai-based millionaire funneled $285M into US nonprofits now under federal investigation for fraud and money laundering. His wife spent February in Oakland organizing to kill American AI data centers.
We used research from @SamLyman33 and @bitcoinpolicy to show how the movement to block AI data centers has some of its most active nodes right here in the Bay Area.
Two reports from @SamLyman33 and @bitcoinpolicy document a coordinated foreign influence campaign against American AI — running through CCP state media, a Shanghai-based Marxist's nonprofit network, and foreign billionaire dark money that has funneled $2B+ into US advocacy infrastructure.
AI doomerism isn't as organic as it looks.
Part II of our report on foreign influence in the campaign against American AI is out today 👇

NEW: BPI research reveals that a Marxist-Leninist group with documented ties to China has been a critical mobilizer in efforts that have blocked or delayed $23.6 billion in AI investment in the US.
Its scalps include 10 data center moratoria, 1 permanent data center ban, and 4 rejected or scrapped AI projects.
In Part II of our foreign influence investigation, BPI exposes the Party for Socialism and Liberation (or PSL) as the political arm of Shanghai-based Neville Singham, and lays bare a national campaign launched by the party to stop America’s data center buildout.
Singham is the subject of multiple federal investigations into his reported ties to the CCP. Our research uncovers the anti-data-center organizing of his activist vehicle, the PSL, across 21 campaigns in 14 states, in roles ranging from lead organizer to one member of a broader coalition.
This report adds to the mounting evidence that China and its surrogates are committed to stopping America’s data center buildout so that Beijing can gain the advantage in the AI race.
WATCH. 🧵1/ FIRST ON FOX: Former Treasury senior advisor says DOJ probe into Neville Roy Singham's "subversive political network" is an "enormous development" and shares the receipts on how Singham's pro-China communist network has been behind stalling $23.6 BILLION in data center projects.
I spoke with Sam Lyman, former senior advisor at Treasury Department and former speech writer for Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Sam, now head of research at the @BitcoinPolicy Institute.
He says @TheJusticeDept Southern District of New York's grand jury probe by US Attorney Jay Clayton into American communist tycoon Neville Roy Singham and his funding of far-left groups is exactly what many folks are feeling: it's "enormous."
Here is our exclusive @FoxNews Digital story with Sam's interview on the @SDNYnews probe and a new Bitcoin Policy Institute report on how the Singham network is fueling opposition to data centers that draws in well-intentioned folks: https://t.co/9QcTCAg3bP
An American citizen, Singham has funded the groups blocking data centers from his base in Shanghai.
Love them or hate them, data centers are a critical part of the engine that powers artificial intelligence. Who gains if data centers are blocked in the United States?
China in its AI war with America.
Here are some important insights from Sam on the DOJ grand jury investigation:
‼️ "This is an enormous development because it's one of the first legal actions that's taken place that's taking a deeper look into this network, which is among the most subversive political networks here in the United States," he told me.
‼️ "He is among the foremost financiers of political agitation, not only in the Unites States, but across the globe."
‼️ "And what he advocates specifically for is socialism. The idea is that socialism eventually will lay the groundwork for communism."
‼️ "Neville Singham is incredibly adept at moving money around in ways that are very difficult to track. And that's what the Southern District of New York is going to take a deeper look at."
‼️ "Although he fights against capitalism all day, the great irony is that he made his fortune through capitalism. Now he's using that fortune he made from capitalism to implement communism abroad."
‼️ "And he's used that fortune to funnel his money into nonprofit organizations here in the United States. If there's a common thread in all of these nonprofit organizations, it's that they all agitate against American causes, what they call 'American empire.'"
The new Bitcoin Policy Institute report examines the role of the Singham network -- especially the Party for Socialism and Liberation -- in organizing opposition to artificial intelligence infrastructure and data center development across the country.
‼️ Researchers conclude that about $23.6 billion in proposed AI and data center investment has been delayed, scaled back or blocked in campaigns where Party for Socialism and Liberation served as "a critical mobilizer in efforts that delayed, scaled back, or blocked the proposed AI infrastructure investment."
‼️ Sam told me: "What we've uncovered is that Neville Singham's network, in particular the Party for Socialism and Liberation, has been boots on the ground in dozens of protests across the country targeting data centers."
‼️ According to the report, the Party for Socialism and Liberation has developed a nationwide organizing operation that has participated in 21 campaigns across 14 states opposing AI infrastructure projects.
‼️ The report documents 19 case studies involving cities and counties including: Charlotte, N.C.; Prince George's County, Md. DeForest, Wisc.; Monterey Park, Calif.; Denver, Co.; Tucson, Ariz.; Athens, Ga.; Durham, N.C.; Madison, Wisc.; New Orleans; Cleveland and other locations.
‼️ According to the report, those campaigns resulted in 10 local data center moratoria, one permanent data center ban and four rejected or withdrawn projects. The authors note that the figure likely understates the total impact because several additional campaigns involved projects whose investment values were never publicly disclosed.
Hope all of this makes sense to everybody! Let me know if you have any questions. What I always hope to do is connect the dots for you, track protests on the ground, follow the money and unpack the hidden agendas, propaganda and subversive intentions behind the scenes!
New episode! Nik Bhatia on Bitcoin and the Case for Using Stablecoins for Statecraft.
Nik (@timevalueofbtc) and @DavidBeckworth discuss Nik’s niche in the Bitcoin community, the role of Bitcoin as a transaction asset, the threat or lack thereof of quantum computing on Bitcoin, his issues with the current eurodollar market, his new proposal to use Stablecoins as statecraft, and much more.
