@jjj002521798 I think we can take stretch breaks throughout the day in our classroom! This would probably benefit all students and give their brains a break.
@steed_perry I think validation and encouragement is a great way to build confidence in teachers. Sometimes just a simple "I know how you feel" or "You are doing a great job" goes a long way. Especially from administrators/supervisors!
"...by our being here, we could help the people of the world remember what truly matters for the Earth" (pg. 111). Students with autism have unique connections to the outside world; how can teachers encourage this for all of our students? #auctee3100book21 https://t.co/YoEHv9z0yS
@carbrill1 This is one of the many places where teachers have to put in extra work outside of the classroom. We need to be actively researching and learning to make sure the information we are teaching is accurate and up-to-date.
@jadynowensau I think we can read books and have teaching materials that show all types of students. Additionally, I think it is important that teachers acknowledge students with disabilities, but emphasize that everyone is more similar than different and we are all capable of the same things.
“The greenness of nature is the lives of plants and trees. Green is life” (pg. 85). Naoki shows us that all students thrive in nature. This fact is beneficial to our classrooms, so what are ways we can incorporate “greenness”? https://t.co/hF2n2qkaC5
@MaryGraceMills4 I think we can introduce police presence in schools very slowly. Maybe not have a police officer standing at the front door the first day of school, but come for a program and address the student body and clearly state their goals and intentions. Then, see how students respond.
@mgh0045au One way that I think would motivate employees and students is to encourage their creative side and give them an outlet. This may be a free time to build, draw, design, etc. or simply quiet time to be with their own thoughts and see where that takes them.
“…every human being, with or without disabilities…striving for happiness you will arrive at happiness” (pg. 45). People with autism are just like us: they want to be happy. How can we encourage students’ pure happiness in the classroom? #auctee3100book21 https://t.co/mqpKJk5eD1
@cmorrinauctee I think we can incorporate books and other materials into our lessons that show different types of families. Another idea is drawing family trees and talking about how they are all different, but emphasizing that everyone’s family is equally important and valued.
@ReillyDavis13 I really agree with this quote. Education is one of the most important things in one’s life. I think black girls are criminalized in school due to negative stereotypes and people not willing to overlook them.
“Our feelings are the same as everyone else’s, but we can’t find a way to express them” (pg. 21). Sometimes I think it’s easy to assume people with autism don’t feel the same way we do. What are ways we can show them validation? #auctee3100book21
