I am honored to receive the APA WA branch award for Research. Great to receive recognition from colleagues for 30years work contributing to advancing our profession. Thank you
Interesting thread and thank you @Jeff taylorhaas for your thoughtful discussion. Have seen a spike in this presentation with people returning to sport after COVID19. It is really hard as a clinician to provide answers - because we donโt have them all ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
The past few months around 75% of my runners have had MTSS. when asked what factors they thought contributed to their injury they told me:
โขwrong shoes
โขoverpronation
โขflat feet
โขhigh arched feet
โขnot enough stretching
โขrunning on concrete/asphalt
โขLLD
โขpoor form

90% of time-loss hamstring injuries preceded by a non-time-loss "niggle" in the week prior, but players don't complete the surveys.
More engagement might come if they understand niggles can be harbingers & injuries could be avoided if reported & acted on

Read this series of papers ๐. They fill the gap left following the Doha agreement on groin pain in athletes. Fantastic work by experts in the field.

Thanks to @TAlthorpe, Ali Low, @MervTravers, Chris Perkin, Vaidas Stalioraitis, @Pierre_mHealth and my longtime colleague @DrTobyHall. All made our recently completed #ManualTherapy COMT program in Perth a memorable and highly enlightening experience for our French colleagues.
Fun night with a great group of Physiotherapists engaged in constructive debate! Enjoyed the wide range of amazing Physios in the room - from students to admired leaders of our profession.
Studies like these are so important to give clear clinical guidelines for clinicians, information to encourage patients to persist with strengthening and as evidence for insurers to understand the need for workers to see a Physio and stick with a clear, structured program. ๐๐ผ

Really interesting findings - people with back pain are not dictated to by their MRI findings. Itโs empowering to patients and should encourage us all to maximise patient outcomes following guideline based treatment. Get active and dethreaten imaging

This study may be more important than the asymptomatic MRI studies?
This is really powerful information. Post ACL, a positive outcome depends on the full completion of a high level rehabilitation program. Being active does not increase your risk of poor bone health post ACL. It also manages weight so reduces risk of knee OA
Check it out: at the recent Australian Physiotherapy Conference Dr Felicity Braithwaite @FBraithwaitePT won the best overall research presentation (Pain) and Dr Merv Travers @MervTravers won the best Early Career Researcher presentation!!! Woohooooo!!!! Great work you two!!
