AE is a very important skill for developing business acumen & learning how businesses spend money.
I found it way too repetitive and hated the micro management and content attachment to a quota selling something that isn’t your own.
Eventually you hit a point where you would rather sell your own thing
Day 1 with new client: let's target all manufacturing verticals.
Day 2: only target this sub vertical until we get more data on platform.
The good news? Prospecting is so researched there's no dial or meeting count.
I could book 1 meeting in a 2 week trial and they're happy.
[name]?
sending that ^ as a last-resort bump email is the most effective sales technique i've ever learned
it evokes an emotional response in the recipient because people are not used to seeing their name in such an exposed manner. it's almost alarming
the format also breaks their pattern recognition of what cold outreach looks like, and therefore breaks their autopilot response to said outreach
this has either revived or generated at least one deal per month for me, no exaggeration
Tech is behind on marketing because they don’t need it…
They have mfs like me working freelance for 5 companies turning cold conversations into qualified meetings with their dream customers
Health is sales remember that
Here’s my morning stack before selling
- Coffee with honey & milk
- 500mg aspirin
- 600mg thiamine
- 200mg magnesium glycinate
- 200mg L-theanine
This will have you feeling like your flying
As you get older and prioritise the bag it’s important to NEVER stop having fun
Especially someone like myself in the most boring industry ( B2B sales )
- book a random trip last minute
- learn how to surf
- try martial arts
- join a social sport league
- go fishing
First client is signed for outbound agency 🌊
I need a GTM partner, who knows a good offshore guy / VA?
