Woodville Gardens School is committed to life long learning for both students and teachers, and to sharing our learning to support and challenge each other.
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
Educators: The first day of school is an amazing opportunity. What can you do on Day 1 that has your kids running back to you on Day 2? We can’t forget: “You never get a second chance to make a first impression.” Make the first day count! #FutureReady
As part of our authentic student voice focus, we challenged student leaders to run focus groups of their peers in private, to find out more about bullying & harassment at WGS. The leaders made a film for #nda2019. This is what they found. https://t.co/NhO37szUh5 via @YouTube
It is an awful duty by myself and other black intellectuals Langton and Davis to inform the nation its discriminatory constitution does not contain inclusion or hope but refuses democratic inclusion. The unpalatable truth - Australia is unequal and in denial.
Some of our staff have been attending the "Keeping Children Safe From Bullying" conference today. Key messages so far:
1: Bullying is best addressed at a community level
2: We need to use evidence based approaches.
Our community is up for this challenge

Our students today had the privelige of being addressed by Prof. @LesterRigney who spoke to 12 year olds like equals, shared his confidence in their leadership and future and shared with us his amazing work. An inspiring and memorable day for students aspiring to become leaders.
You can’t preach student voice & not support them today. Proud of the countless students that stood up for themselves & showed courage, yet showed respect & civility at the same time. Contrary from what we see from many adults, discourse CAN be civil, productive, and meaningful.
