One heuristic I keep coming back to: if human intelligence can't compete with it either, you might actually have a moat.
Most startups pitch AI differentiation but are building things a smart 25-year-old with a spreadsheet could replicate.
The best marketing is just finding different ways to tell the truth.
Every founder who burns budget on brand before having a single repeatable sales motion has this backwards.
Nothing says "elite European-American dialogue" like a room full of Ivy alumni dripping through their suits in German summer heat. 25€ entry. Zero air conditioning. Wildest networking event I've been to.
Italy produces world-class designers, engineers, and operators.
What it doesn't produce enough of is founders willing to build for global markets from day one. That's the gap. Not talent.
The only truly wasted time is time spent wishing you were building something different.
I see this constantly - founders half-committed to their current company while mentally pitching themselves on the next one. The market can tell.
The social platform cycle is always the same.
Teens discover it. Culture follows. Brands arrive. Teens leave.
Anyone betting against this pattern hasn't been paying attention for the last 20 years.
