imagine telling your customers there's a small chance you'll randomly decide they're using your product wrong and you won't tell them but will secretly silently sabotage their work
It’s crazy what an opportunity @OpenAI and @OpenAIDevs have to continue increasing the momentum and public perception around gpt models and codex. You could see it changing in real time with codex, gpt 5.5, allowing to use the models in other harnesses, etc. Simply do the opposite of what Anthropic is doing. Be slightly more open. Don’t nerf models based on use case. Push for that please @jxnlco@thsottiaux@sama@gdb
Anthropic has chosen the *opposite* of the safe path: they are allowing themselves, the current top lab, to use their top model for frontier AI research. They've said they'll sabotage others who try.
This means the AI frontier advances, & power imbalance increases.
@tautologer it is the first publicly available model that i am explicitly not allowed to use for my work, because anthropic holds the view that the work i do to facilitate open model research is harmful. capability and alignment research are coupled. anthropic wants to be the only lab.
@bernhardsson The engineers at Modal are obviously very talented. Does your team find AI assisted coding to be helpful ? I’m really curious to hear more about how your team uses it etc.
