@SHSCoachMueller credits a lot of that success to the “sprint-based approach” (players sprint 2 days a week all year long).
@StewieFootball had just around 12 players run the 40-yard dash in under five seconds in 2019 compared to 37 this season.
Want to add intensity to chin-ups?
Right now we are running a strength block with chin-ups.
Assign total reps (12 reps)
- Pick the heaviest load you can do 3 reps with
- Once you can’t do 3, go to 2’s
- Can’t do 2’s? Singles
- Don’t drop weight
- Go until rep count is reached
Vertical Jump “testing” which isn’t as much testing as other TJ bugs because we jump twice a week 😂….BUT 25% of the 🏈 guys hit a PR and 75% were above there rolling 4 week average….

Have a guy I train privately that is transferring from a school where he played 🏈 to run track at another school.
He told me he was so much slower his freshman year of college 🏈 than a senior in HS. He said they spent so much time in the weight room, ran silly conditioning drills in practice that he was always sluggish and just felt heavy legged all the time. He is an elastic dude. They did him dirty for sure 😂
Coaches vastly underestimate the conditioning of fast players, and grossly overestimate the speed of conditioned players.
Prioritize Speed and kids will still show up, compete, and 'look' in shape on gameday. The added benefit is that they'll be blowing by the competition.
A concerned parent sent me their High School's program to look at
Here was one day:
1A Back Squat 10RM, 8RM, 6RM
1B Bent Row 3x8
1C GHR 3x5
2A Bench Press 4x6
2B DB Incline Bench 3x16 (yes, 16)
2C Pull Ups 3x5
3A Board Press 2x6 at 90% (impossible)
3B Skull Crushers 3x8
Some of our "weight room" work today. 💥🧠
“Everything we do in sport involves a COLLISION...if you want to be good at your sport, you have to learn how to manage them.” ~@WGF1
Here's a free conditioning program for most college football programs: use your NIL partners to buy everyone a bike.
Make them commute to the facility on it.
Practice your sport a bunch.
Then do 1-2 sessions of crazy intense, full rest alactic power and speed work each week.
