Look what I got in the mail today!!!! I'm so excited for these mathematics materials😀
Special thanks to @teresakd and Vanderbilt Department of Teaching and Learning!
I love this! I wonder changing the wording to something like "Draw a diagram to represent the following expression" would encourage ALL students to do this.
Absolutely love when Ss make the jump from concrete representations to the more abstract representations. Not only did these 5th graders make the connection, but they could explain their mathematical thinking while exploring today! @IllustrateMath@GHillsGators@BPSTeachLearn
We are discussing domain and range and I found this @geogebra activity.
I appreciate how students can manipulate the sliders and define domain and range is a way that makes sense to them.

Creating an environment where students feel comfortable sharing their political concerns and opinions is so important! However we need to keep in mind that the presidential election is just one of the political process and somehow continue this conversation beyond this time
Today my students who are in 7th grade voiced their concerns about the up coming election. They are so worried for their future and want to help anyway they can. Educators make sure to listening and comfort them during these times.
I wrote up all the ways that I build community and have students engage in virtual math class that don't require webcams. No special apps needed besides Zoom, Google Slides, and Google Jamboard. @howie_hua@MrsParkShine@IllustrateMath#MTBoS#iteachmath

I regret not choosing to be called by my Korean name when I first moved to the States. Yes, "Janice" is more socially acceptable than "Dameun" in a white supremacist society. but objectively hard names don't exist. All you need to do is practice
"When we don’t try because we don’t want to 'butcher' the name, offend the other person, look bad, be uncomfortable, or are too busy, we are not protecting them. We are doing it at the cost of the other person."

Using games like Kahoot in a math class would only perpetuate the myth that mathematical smartness is centered around speed and accuracy. There's gotta be a better way to engage students
As #SuicidePreventionMonth draws to a close, we want to offer a reminder: This year, especially, it’s critical to encourage students and colleagues to talk about mental health and reach out for support when it’s needed. We hope these resources help.

What do you notice and wonder about these measuring spoons? They seem to be permanently out of stock these days, but here's where you can learn more: https://t.co/qE8QcUJozq #NoticeWonder#MTBoS#iteachmath
As schools go remote, finding lost students gets harder.
I'm glad to have the chance to make a point I feel strongly about--schools can't fix all of this. If a kid is truant b/c parents lost their job, we need unemployment benefits, not truancy officers.

Getting better each day with virtual teaching. Accepting failures, learning from mistakes, and celebrating even the smallest of successes. Perfection is not the goal, progress is. And most of all, the relationships with students matter most. #DistanceLearning#TeacherStrong
