🟥Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya’s life is in immediate danger.

🟥Physicians for Human Rights–israel (PHRI) has issued an urgent warning that Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, is facing an immediate threat to his life.

🟥Following a visit by his lawyer, Attorney Naser Ouda, Dr. Abu Safiya was brought from the underground “Rakifit” interrogation unit inside Nitzan Prison shackled hand and foot, surrounded by masked prison guards, with fresh injuries to his head, face, ears and neck. He reportedly struggled to breathe, struggled to speak, repeatedly lost his balance and appeared close to losing consciousness. According to his lawyer, Dr. Abu Safiya has been beaten daily, assaulted with hammers and batons, denied adequate medical treatment and has repeatedly lost consciousness.

🔳He told his lawyer:

‼️“This is the last time you’ll see me… They brought me here to kill me. I don’t see myself alive. This is the end.”‼️

🔳The warning does not end there.

🟥Reports also state that Dr. Marwan Al-Hams is being subjected to daily torture, with the abuse reportedly causing his heart to stop, placing his life in immediate danger.

🟥These are doctors. Men whose profession is to save lives are now reportedly fighting for their own lives in detention. If anything happens to Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, Dr. Marwan Al-Hams, or any detained Palestinian medical professional, responsibility will extend far beyond those carrying out the abuse. Every institution that has received these warnings and fails to act will bear responsibility for remaining silent in the face of an impending tragedy.
