I have a request. It's nothing huge.

Please consider the language you use around your rights and around gov't.

Your rights do not come from the Constitution: They're your natural rights, or your constitutionally protected rights.

Similarly, gov't officials are public servants, not leaders. This language was subverted long ago but we need to go back.

The shifts in language over the years are a form of manipulation to get people to think rights come from gov't and that government officials are somehow more than just the hired help required to follow a written set of limitations and actions.

I still slip and use imprecise language at times, but I would like to invite all of you to consciously select more accurate language around these subjects.

The State Department literally has a program to replace American kids looking for seasonal jobs with foreign workers. It's sweetened with a 15% federal tax discount so businesses take the bait.

It's called the J-1 visa, they say it's about cultural exchange.

EVEN THE H-1B WORKERS ARE GETTING OFFSHORED NOW

An Indian AI engineer posted his story on r/developersIndia this week.

He came to the US six years ago for a master's. He spent the last three years building AI at a Fortune 500 company on an H-1B visa.

Then the company moved the entire AI project to its India team and laid him off. The visa gave him 60 days to find a new sponsor. He tried. Nobody signed.

On the way out, his employer offered him a choice: a role on the India team, or severance.

He took the severance. His exact words: "I took the severance instead because it was in USD."

H-1B gets defended as a pipeline for talent America cannot live without. This company just showed you the actual math. Every seat gets priced against the offshore rate, and the visa holders lose that comparison the same way the Americans sitting next to them do.

He is now choosing between flying home to restart his career and paying for another US degree just to keep his status.

Now look at his only two paths for staying in America: a PhD or a second master's. He already holds two degrees. He works in the one field every CEO swears they cannot hire enough of. A third degree would buy him immigration status by the semester. That is its entire function.

Every laid-off visa worker in this country gets handed the same advice: go back to school. Here is what that advice buys in 2026. Tuition keeps you legal, or keeps you busy, while the job you already trained for gets done in India for a fraction of your pay.

🦔AI companies are bulk-buying rare books, scanning them through high-speed machines that cut the spines off, and shredding the originals. A service called ISBNdb facilitates orders of up to a million books and keeps buyers anonymous. Pre-2022 books are premium because they're free of AI-generated text. A federal judge ruled the practice is fair use because eliminating the original means only one copy exists at a time. Anthropic hired the former head of Google Books partnerships to obtain "all the books in the world."

My Take
This got to me. A bookseller told 404 Media that rare books with almost no surviving copies are being fed into this pipeline. Books that survived wars, fires, and centuries of handling are being shredded so an AI can learn to write a better marketing email.
ISBNdb's website literally says "'AI company destroys two million books' is not a headline that generates sympathy," and they still built an entire business around making it happen quietly. They offer NDAs as a feature. They coach clients to call it "digital preservation."

I've covered AI companies scraping the internet, torrenting libraries, and stealing music. This is worse because it's irreversible. You can re-upload a website. You can reprint a bestseller. You can't replace the last three copies of an 18th-century botanical text once someone shreds them for training data. And the judge said it's legal. So it's going to accelerate.
"We shred rare books and offer NDAs so nobody finds out" is a legitimate business model in 2026. What a timeline.
