Subject : Formal Consumer Complaint — Overcharging Above Printed MRP by Zepto on Patanjali Coconut Oil
(Order #KQKRKMUTO23009)

To
Customer Grievance Officer / Legal Cell, Zepto
Copy to: National Consumer Helpline, Department of Legal Metrology (Maharashtra), and Consumer Protection Authorities

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to formally record a complaint regarding an instance of overcharging and misleading pricing on your platform.

On 6 September 2026 at 8:12 PM I placed an order on the Zepto application for one unit of Patanjali Coconut Oil 500 ml (listed as “Patanjali Coconut Oil – Cold Pressed Nariyal Multipurpose Tel Jar”). The application prominently displayed the selling price as ₹265. Delivery and handling fees were shown as free. The order was delivered at 9:08 PM (Order ID: #KQKRKMUTO23009).

Upon receipt and examination of the physical pack, the following facts were observed:

The printed Maximum Retail Price (MRP) on the container is ₹235.00 (₹0.47 per ml).
Batch No.: FAMA2600005
Packed On: April 2026
Net Quantity: 500 ml (458 g) at 30°C
Best Before: Fifteen months from packaging

The product was therefore sold to me at ₹30 above the legally declared MRP. No additional statutory charges, taxes, or platform fees were applied that could justify the difference.

Legal Position

Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 (read with the Legal Metrology Act, 2009) expressly prohibit the sale of any pre-packaged commodity at a price higher than the MRP printed on the package. Selling above MRP constitutes a punishable offence.
Displaying a higher price on the digital platform while the physical pack carries a lower MRP amounts to misleading representation and unfair trade practice under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
The consumer is entitled to the benefit of the lower printed MRP. Charging any amount in excess of that MRP, even if shown on the app, is not legally sustainable.

This is not a case of delivery charges or convenience fees being added; those were waived. The overcharge is purely on the product price itself.

Relief Sought

I request the following within 7 days of receipt of this communication:

Immediate refund of the excess amount of ₹30 along with reasonable compensation for the inconvenience and time spent.
Written confirmation that the listing price on the platform will be corrected to match or remain below the printed MRP.
An explanation of how such a discrepancy occurred and the steps being taken to prevent recurrence.

Should a satisfactory resolution not be provided, I reserve the right to approach the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, file a complaint with the Legal Metrology Department, and pursue all other remedies available under law, including public disclosure of the facts.

I am attaching photographs of the product label (front and back) clearly showing the printed MRP of ₹235 and a screenshot of the Zepto order confirmation showing the charged amount of ₹265.

This complaint is being raised not only for personal redressal but also in public interest, as such pricing discrepancies, if systemic, affect a large number of consumers who rely on quick-commerce platforms.

I look forward to your prompt and time-bound response.

Yours faithfully,
Rakesh K. Singh

Subject : Representation against selective demolition by BMC "S" Ward under Pedestrian First campaign at Kanjurmarg West
To,

The Chief Minister,
State of Maharashtra.

The Municipal Commissioner,
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

The Assistant Commissioner, "S" Ward, BMC.

Respected Sirs,

I wish to place on record a serious grievance regarding the anti-encroachment drive conducted by "S" Ward on the morning of 26 August 2026 under the Pedestrian First campaign.

The drive took place on the footpath along the road connecting the western exit of Kanjurmarg railway station to L.B.S. Marg. During the operation, the name-board of one small shop was demolished with a bulldozer. Photographs are enclosed.

In stark contrast, neighbouring larger shops with similar projecting boards and structures were left untouched. They were merely directed to remove the structures themselves and were given time to comply. Some had received prior notices or advance intimation. The small shop, however, was subjected to instantaneous demolition without any notice, hearing, or time.

This selective action violates the procedural safeguards under Sections 351 and 354A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888, and the principles of natural justice. Even under the summary powers of Sections 312–314, fairness is mandatory. The differential treatment also contravenes Article 14 of the Constitution, as the law cannot be applied unequally to similarly situated persons.

I therefore request :
A detailed explanation of the criteria used for this selective demolition.
Departmental action against the officers responsible.
Uniform enforcement against all similar structures in the locality.
Restoration of the demolished board or suitable compensation.
Clear directions ensuring future drives follow natural justice and equal treatment.

Kindly examine the matter and issue a speaking order at the earliest.

Yours sincerely,
Rakesh Singh,
Whistle Blower,
Mumbai, Maharashtra.

@RakeshMumbai78 BEST prashasan ke adhikariyon ko public ko honewali problem ke liye responsible hona hi chahiye

For the past 12 days, the electricity supply to the Pannalal Terrace building—located on Dr. D.B. Marg, Grant Road East—has been subject to frequent interruptions. Consequently, the situation has become extremely distressing for the hundreds of residents living in this building.
LDue to these recurring power outages, electrical appliances installed in the homes have also begun to malfunction. When local residents approached the BEST administration staff regarding this issue, they were told that an underground cable wire was overheating, which was the root cause of the problem. Furthermore, the staff claimed that a permanent solution would remain elusive until the cable completely burns out and is destroyed.
I would like to ask the Government of Maharashtra: how can the rationale offered by the BEST employees be considered even remotely valid? According to them, this problem is set to persist unabated until the cable wire is completely incinerated. In Mumbai—the country's financial capital—daily power outages lasting 3 to 4 hours are occurring; this situation, in itself, casts a shameful light on the functioning of the Maharashtra government.
I earnestly appeal to the Honorable Chief Minister, Shri Devendra Fadnavis—who also serves as the State's Energy Minister—to implement concrete measures to liberate the residents of Pannalal Terrace from the daily mental and physical harassment they are currently enduring.
Thanking You,
Rakesh Singh,

More than a month has passed, yet I have still not received a commercial gas cylinder for my establishment—Hotel Krish Restaurant, located at Kanjur Marg West, LBS Marg. Despite announcements on news channels by the government regarding the supply of 50% of commercial gas cylinders,
I am unable to procure one for my hotel. Upon inquiring at the gas agency in my area, I was informed that the cylinders are simply not being dispatched from the company itself.
On one hand, the government is making grand claims regarding the supply of gas cylinders; yet, on the other hand, needy small business owners like us are unable to obtain them. This presents an extremely contradictory situation for both the general public and the business community.
I earnestly request the Government of Maharashtra and Bharat Petroleum Corporation to ensure the immediate supply of commercial gas cylinders to Kanjur Gas Service, Kanjur Marg (East), Mumbai, so that needy small business owners like us may receive our gas cylinders.
