The global IAS community is shocked and saddened to learn of the unexpected passing of Jean-Charles Fruchart, PharmD, PhD.
Jean-Charles was IAS’ president from 2007-2009 and remained very involved with the society, which presents an endowed award – the Jean-Charles Fruchart Prize in Nuclear Receptors and Atherosclerosis Research – every three years. The next award will be presented in Muscat, Oman in December 2024 as part of the 20th International Symposium on Atherosclerosis where Jean-Charles will also be memorialized.
Jean-Charles was a loving husband and father, dear friend to many, and one of the most prolific scientists in the field of lipidology. IAS extends our deepest sympathies to Jean-Charles’ wife, Dr. Jamila Fruchart, the entire Fruchart family and close friends.
