.@WHO and @UVRIug have co-hosted a weeklong #filovirus laboratory training for laboratory focal points targeting 18 filovirus high-risk countries to strengthen research & development readiness ahead of potential outbreaks. Under the WHO Emergency Preparedness and Response programme, participants have been trained on standard operating procedures for molecular and immunology techniques. The selected countries for training are Angola, Burundi, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, DRC, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra-Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. @WHOAFRO @MinofHealthUG

Both #Marburg and #Ebola are members of the #Filovirus family and have glycosylated #Spike proteins with conserved disulfide bridges. These pathogens do not have the Pam-3-Cys lipid protein toxins. #Allicin in #AllicinV destroys the disulfide bridge functionality of the spike proteins in these viruses.

We recommend #AllicinV shielding for #Marburg as well as 200mcg selenium for a male, and 100mcg for a female daily. We also recommend Chaga mushroom when infected. Allicin will break the GP1 & Gp2 Spike proteins of Marburg while Selenium and Chaga will slow protein translation kinetics down. There are conserved Cysteines in the GP1 and GP2 #Spike proteins of Marburg virus that make conserved #Disulfide bridges that create structure tied to receptor binding and fusion of the virus. Specifically Cysteine 53 (C53) in GP1 forms a disulfide bond with Cysteine 609 (C609) in GP2, linking the two subunits (cited below). Cys85 and Cys511 – Form a conserved disulfide bond in GP1, helping stabilize the receptor-binding domain. Cysteine 601 and Cysteine 670 are conserved within GP2 and form intra-subunit disulfide bridges that maintain the structural integrity of GP2 during the fusion process.
