@pl_pierce Example: Setting execute on a *.jpg will tell the kernel that this is an executable file but when we we run it, the kernel will say *what are you doing?!* vs not setting it would simply mean we can not run it. Best practice is to not set execute on files that don’t need it.

@pl_pierce Adding execute on directories let is cd into them or use ls on them. Otherwise, we should set execute on programs and/or executables only. In practice most people don’t do this and that is what causes confusion.
