I'm happy to share that Iโm starting a new position as an Assistant Research Professor of Hydrologic Sciences and Remote Sensing @DRIScience , Reno, Nevada!
Hawaiiโs Kฤซlauea volcano spewed lava nearly 1,400 feet into the sky during an eruption that ended early Christmas Eve morning, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
Today, Jared Isaacman (@NASAAdmin) was sworn in as NASAโs 15th Administrator. At a time of intense competition across the last frontier, he will lead the most talented minds in the nation to ignite the orbital economy, usher in world-changing scientific discovery, and return American astronauts to the Moon โ this time, to stay.
Americaโs historic mission in space continues. ๐ https://t.co/zbSZLTZFiv
Timely, high-quality water data is now available for all 48 contiguous United States. ๐ง
OpenET, a tool from NASA and its partners, provides crucial data for managing water resources, planning irrigation, monitoring drought, and evaluating fire risk. https://t.co/SDW00Sdf8s
This is Gemini 3: our most intelligent model that helps you learn, build and plan anything.
It comes with state-of-the-art reasoning capabilities, world-leading multimodal understanding, and enables new agentic coding experiences. ๐งต
Introducing Gemini 3 โจ
Itโs the best model in the world for multimodal understanding, and our most powerful agentic + vibe coding model yet. Gemini 3 can bring any idea to life, quickly grasping context and intent so you can get what you need with less prompting.ย
Find Gemini 3 Pro rolling out today in the @Geminiapp and AI Mode in Search. For developers, build with it now in @GoogleAIStudio and Vertex AI.ย
Excited for you to try it!
Super excited to share that one of my dream projects just got funded. We will be building a Digital Twin for the Ganga River Basin at IIT Delhi. All of the AI and supercomputing tools that we have developed indigenously brick by brick over the past 5 years will now be deployed into this project. Our target is build the first fully open-source digital twin for rivers in India. Very thankful to the NMCG/Ministry of Jal Shakti for promoting the use of advanced technology in the service of our sacred river.

Growing up in small town in India, you can see greatness from far, someone reached moon, nasa put a rover on marsโฆ you can see the greatness but you are not sure you can be moreโฆ.
We moved to US as an experimentโฆ masters became PhDโฆ and then my partner joined Optimusโฆ suddenly you felt like you can touch the greatness and you can be part of itโฆ
Thatโs what US does to you, you can be nobody one moment and next moment you can be part of history! Even though you arenโt conventional candidate , they take chances on you. Iโm sure no Indian university wouldโve taken a chance on me (trust me I tried), but UMD did.
That's the true power of this place. It doesn't just change your opportunities; it fundamentally changes your own perception of what you are capable of!
Launching a new home for all our open-source geospatial python tutorials - covering #GeoPandas, #XArray, #Dask, #XEE, #SamGeo and more. Check them out at https://t.co/dDFo0YtXEk
NASA's repository of geospatial data contains key insights on everything from climate and air quality to urban planning and disaster responseโbut its scale and complexity make it difficult to parse. With Earth Copilot, they're making it easier than ever for anyone to access that data: https://t.co/kSEzYwze7d
The economic value of the Landsat program grew from $3.4B in 2017 to $25.6B in 2023, which, as we mention in the report, is vastly underestimated.
Working on this project, which attempted to put a monetary value on satellite imagery, with an honest approach, is perhaps the most interesting and the most important work I have ever done. It was an absolute honour to collaborate with some world-class economists and researchers.
๐ย We are thrilled to announce the release of the Icechunk storage engine, a new open-source library and specification for the storage of multidimensional array (a.k.a. tensor) data in cloud object storage.

DRI researchers Thomas Ott and Sayantan Majumdar @hydromaj
and their recent study were featured in a Western Water Notes article by Daniel Rothberg that reaffirms the role of #OpenET in effective groundwater management. Read more: https://t.co/YwnTmeq8yo #ScienceThatMattersNow
DRI scientists compare data from groundwater pumping meters with #OpenET estimates in irrigated land to advance understanding of groundwater use. Read the full story on our website: https://t.co/amftp1HTwo #DiscoverDRI
Stoked to share our new #openaccess publication in @ElsevierConnect Ag. Water Management.
We demonstrate the benefit of using @USGSLandsat field-scale actual ET from @openetdata to estimate irrigation groundwater pumping in Nevada and Oregon.
