The ongoing popular movement in Azad Kashmir makes it clear: the ruling elite must stop the brutal use of force and the massacre of unarmed civilians, fulfill the legitimate demands of the protesters, and immediately withdraw the forces.

As Chair of the APPG on Kashmir, along with parliamentarians, we held an important meeting with the Minister for Pakistan and Kashmir-related affairs to continue to urgently press the serious human rights concerns being raised by over 80 Parliamentarians.

The Minister confirmed that the serious concerns raised by more than one million British Kashmiris, and the APPG, have been taken directly to the highest levels of the Pakistani Government.

These concerns cannot simply be noted. The bloodshed must end, communications must be fully restored, essential supplies must get through and peaceful dialogue must resume immediately, with the inalienable human rights of Kashmiris at the heart of any resolution.
