Enforced disappearance against any civilian population is a crime against humanity!

Are you aware that over 229 cases of missing persons have been documented since the Sudan Crisis erupted, according to a tally made by a local online initiative dedicated to helping find people who are unaccounted for?

Of these, 15 are confirmed to be women and girls. However, we assume that the number is higher because many families are not reporting such incidences due to fear and stigma.

2 women, notably Hala Ahmed Isaak from El- Haj Yousif, and Insaf Saroor Fadal-Allah Abdallah from Jeref – West were found dead after having gone missing for a while.

Some of the formerly abducted women have also complained of being coerced by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) through the use of violence and intimidation, to do chores such as cooking and washing under very poor safety and health conditions.

SIHA notes the complete absence of any support in the form of civilian protection from the Police and other legal mechanisms for victims and survivors of enforced disappearance.

Please join this campaign to stand against enforced disappearance crimes in Sudan and raise awareness of and help locate missing Sudanese women and girls via #BringSudanMissingGirlsAndWomenBack and مفقودات_السودان# on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.

We also stress the importance of speaking out about enforced disappearances of other minority communities such as #PWDs (people with disabilities), refugees, #IDPs (internally displaced persons), and sexual minorities in this campaign.

Survivors of this crime are also encouraged to share their experiences by sending us private messages on any of our social media platforms. This information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
