Nice write-up of @solimlegris and @wkvong 's work on creating a H-ARC dataset of human solutions to ARC problems (available for download). Lots of insights hidden in people's successes and failures, maybe something to help you with that $1M prize! https://t.co/0MuXWUqsZX
We have a new preprint led by @solimlegris and @wkvong (w/ @LakeBrenden ) looking at how people solve the Abstraction and Reasoning benchmark. https://t.co/jD433RYrti ARC is one of the most challenging & long standing AGI benchmarks and the focus of a large $$ prize @arcprize 🧵
Thrilled to announce AlphaFold 3 which can predict the structures and interactions of nearly all of life’s molecules with state-of-the-art accuracy including proteins, DNA and RNA. Biology is a complex dynamical system so modeling interactions is crucial https://t.co/Gs4GoOB3fD
Fun (and science) with the family highlighted in today's NYT. Comments from some of my favorite scientists @cocosci_lab, Linda Smith, and @mcxfrank whose study Luna is participating in. Thanks @oliverwhang21 for the great writing. https://t.co/MAREO1xXx4
In just a minute, @wkvong is being interviewed on NPR Science Friday, about training models through the eyes and ears of a child. listen in here: https://t.co/yvtQib49az

Excellent article on @wkvong 's new work in the Washington Post by @Carolynyjohnson, with discussion from Josh Tenenbaum and Michael Tomasello. Indeed, the next q is how verbs, pronouns, and abstract words can be learned. How far will data-driven go? https://t.co/9S0ngl3Mco
New in Science: A #MachineLearning model—trained on video and audio recorded from the first-person perspective of one young child for over a year—has provided novel insights into early language acquisition. https://t.co/lSuRLrS51b
What can an AI model learn when given the data from just one child?
A surprising answer comes from a groundbreaking study published in Science by CDS Research Scientist Wai Keen Vong (@wkvong) and CDS Assistant Professor Brenden Lake (@LakeBrenden).

Published in Science today, @wkvong reports a dream experiment: he trained a multi-modal AI model from scratch on a subset of one child's experiences, as captured by headcam video. Shows how grounded word learning is possible in natural settings, as discussed in his thread:
1/ Today in Science, we train a neural net from scratch through the eyes and ears of one child. The model learns to map words to visual referents, showing how grounded language learning from just one child's perspective is possible with today's AI tools. https://t.co/hPZiiQt6Vv
The COVID Moonshot—an open-science, crowdsourced, and patent-free drug discovery campaign targeting the #SARSCoV2 virus—has yielded a wealth of data that could pave the way for the development of new and better therapeutics.

Congrats to MSK’s Melissa Boby and @jchodera, and to the entire @Covid_Moonshot team on their open-science, crowdsourced efforts to discover new drugs against #COVID19. Read more in @ScienceMagazine 👇.
Cognitive scientists! You don’t want to miss our #CogSci2023 Workshop: “How does the mind discover useful abstractions?” https://t.co/fBWH2L3jUr Co-organized w/ the peerless @wkvong + Lio Wong + @marcelomattar!
An mRNA vaccine showed promising early results in a phase 1 clinical trial against pancreatic cancer, MSK surgeon Dr. Vinod Balachandran (@thevinodlab) reports today in @nature. https://t.co/N7sKYkYxlh
GPT-4 does drug discovery.
Give it a currently available drug and it can:
- Find compounds with similar properties
- Modify them to make sure they're not patented
- Purchase them from a supplier (even including sending an email with a purchase order)
Congratulations to MSK's Dr. Sarat Chandarlapaty and team for pioneering work that helped lead to a new treatment for ER+/ESR1 mutated breast cancer.
