Israel has banned the entry of toilet seats and portable toilets into Gaza, classifying them as "dual-use" military items, as it does with sleeping bags, tarps, and wheelchairs. More than nine in ten Palestinians in Gaza have been displaced, most living in tents, after Israel destroyed over 90 percent of the territory's homes and infrastructure.

The result: 87 percent of Gaza's households have no proper access to a toilet. Families dig holes in the sand behind a curtain. Sewage seeps into the soil beneath the tents, contaminating the ground and turning entire displacement camps into health hazards, spreading disease, skin infections, and contaminating water sources.

A used, damaged toilet seat now sells for up to $700 in Gaza, when one can even be found. Israel has a ceasefire obligation to allow trade and basic goods into Gaza. It is using "dual use" as an excuse to deny two million displaced people a toilet seat.

An Urgent Humanitarian Appeal to Save Child Nisreen Abu Shaqfa
The child Nisreen Abu Shaqfa is facing death slowly, enduring every day the pain of a severe blood platelet disorder that struck her before the war. Today, Nisreen finds herself completely without treatment or medication amid the total absence of the most basic elements of medical care in the Gaza Strip.
Despite the issuance of an urgent medical report, an official referral for treatment outside the strip, and communication with the World Health Organization, the response remains absent, and Nisreen’s condition is steadily deteriorating, leaving no room for further delay. Time is not on her side, and every passing second poses a real threat to her life.
We urgently appeal to all international organizations, humanitarian institutions, and every living, free conscience in the world to intervene immediately and exert pressure to secure her travel and treatment before it is too late.
Be a reason for saving her life by sharing her story and amplifying her voice.

Genau das ist das Problem. Nicht nur, worüber deutsche Medien berichten, sondern wie sie Sprache verändern, sobald es um deutsche Verantwortung und Israels Krieg in Gaza geht.

An investigation by Israeli outlet Ha-Makom reveals that an officer from Nahal Battalion 50 stopped a military vehicle mid-route in Rafah, pulled out an elderly Palestinian woman he had been ordered to evacuate, and shot her dead, after receiving a call from deputy commander Major Menachem Lasri.

The woman was sick, weak, bound, and blindfolded in the vehicle when the order came. It is the most brutal thing there is," a soldier told Ha-Makom. Lasri is also the officer who previously tied an explosive belt around an 80-year-old Palestinian man and forced him to serve as a human shield. The officer was later promoted.
