There's a fantastic plant phylogenetic tree display at the Geneva Botanical Garden with live examples growing at the tips of the evolutionary branches !
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s PLANTING SEASON! Did you know we use planes to plant rice? Before takeoff, we soak the seed in water to weigh it down. This also jumpstarts the germination process so when the seed hits the soil, it’s ready to grow! 🛩🌱🌾
@rellanalvarez Thanks!! Terrific that this is happening. Lumbee identity and agriculture are both so vital to eastern NC. May the listening and sharing continue!
hey #mycofam please RT this #BFI postdoc in the Pawlowska lab at Cornell focused on how endosymbionts contribute to AM fungal communities & evolution. partnered project w @uehlinglab field work in S Africa and Western US. see more at https://t.co/QnEtuXiVfP
Thanks to @PlantTeaching for this accessible summary, to @I_W_Taylor and @krlehner for leading this project and to @jrashmi20 for launching the Kitaake mutant database https://t.co/J0cks2v0cN
An improved version of ClearSee, rapid optical clearing reagent for plant imaging, compatible with staining & fluorescent markers. The new ClearSeeAlpha doesn't get oxidated, lasts longer & clears difficult tissues as seeds/siliques

@AdamLasch1 @HelenBruwn This is the problem with rewarding people for C gains. Those with degraded soils will benefit most. I've always advocated for a system that rewards people who are nearest some site-specific optimum as more rational.
Carbon market- We want to buy your carbon credits farmers!
Farmers- Great, I've been no-till with covers for 10 years.
Market- Sorry, you don't qualify, new practices only.
Farmers- let me go hook onto my carbon eraser.

Check out this genomics/bioinformatics internship opportunity at @Inari_Ag to work on structural variation with myself and interact with many others! The position is to build a catalog of structural variation to better support genome editing. Please RTs. https://t.co/oMJ1eCsqND
#HannaGrayFellows: Edgar Medina (@mycozoa) studies chytrids, one of the most ancient lineages of fungi, to explore the evolutionary pressures and adaptations that spurred the divergence of fungi and animals.
Mentor: @FritzLaylin, @UMassAmherst
So many good things about this. A chance to do research on plant growth in space @NASA. Work with great undergrads at @UNCG, a university with a super diverse student population. Also, close to @ncatsuaggies for even more chance to make an impact.
A postdoc position is available in the lab of Dr. John Z. Kiss in the Department of Biology at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. The lab focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms of gravitropism and phototropism. More info: https://t.co/HwhcMVpJOi
