@rfleury@IceSolst One doesn't know whether to cry or laugh at the idea that the future of programmers in the industry is to become life coaches and therapists for matrix multiplication machines.l
@NnsMe@valigo These kinds of games are unique enough that they don't need to rely so much on first week sales I think. The Witness is still getting new players to this day, hopefully this one also has a long tail that keeps generating revenue to fund Jon's next project.
@OlegAlexandrov@nicbarkeragain What would be the definition of "mattering" in this context? Is AI used more in mission critical software these days, or in fire-and-forget slop projects no one really depends on?
@SebAaltonen I think this has nothing to do with LLM consciousness. Recent research has shown that you can "jailbreak" models by pretending to "hurt" them (which is reasonable considering the training data) and they want to prevent people from doing that to bypass model guardrails. That's all
@dr_okra@iced_coffee_dev What's stopping 20 different clones from popping out tomorrow? How will people know which one to contribute to? Which ones will be abandoned after 2 weeks?
@lauriewired Yes! I remember the first time a colleague put an Oculus with a LeapMotion attached to it and played with some cubes. I could feel their weight on my hands. It was so weird but I was so hopeful for the future. How different it has turned out to be.
@Ringsofproviden@EliasDaler Surely an absurd hyperbole such as equating coding without LLM-assistance to pre-historic practices carries no bad-faith or disparaging intentions at all.
@SebAaltonen so you're not rebuilding the swapchain in the end? i remember you wrote about basically always keeping the fullscreen swapchain, then just dynamically changing the viewport. i wonder why all Vulkan tutorials default to a full swapchain rebuild
@TheGingerBill@kolemannix I'm not anti-AI and I have no choice by to use it in my daily job. That said, I try to hand code all my personal projects (so I learn something) and admire very much people that see programming as a craft, much like other artisans. Odin is production software which is different.
@TheGingerBill@kolemannix Sorry for my bad wording Bill, I didn't mean to accuse you of vibe coding the actual code. I was merely talking about the PR description itself, which felt like auto-generated text to me. I use Odin for my hobby projects and look up to you in terms of code quality. My apologies
@kolemannix@TheGingerBill I was surprised to see a PR entirely AI written coming from Bill. I guess if it's no one but him reading it's better than nothing at all. But seems like not many people remain who don't automate code production these days. Tsoding will be the last one standing.
@Topology1337@rfleury Funniest thing is how they talk about it: "I made this", "I built a ...". Most of the time just consisting in a reference and a prompt, then walk away for some hours. That's like if I said I built a hotel I'm staying at.
