I am so happy to share our preprinted work with everyone! We found that MLL4 is crucial during differentiation in the skin and tie its functions to ferroptosis- an emerging and understudied form of cell death.

Ecstatic to start my next career chapter today as Asst Prof @DermatologyUW. After a long pandemic job search, I'm especially grateful for this opportunity. Please look for tweets from my fledgling lab @SimpsonLabUW studying keratinocyte cell biology & epidermal differentiation.
Together, our results highlight the primary importance of MLL4 in the epidermis as compared to MLL3. They also offer ferroptosis as a novel mechanism by which MLL4 loss of function may promote cancer and implicate this process as crucial to normal epidermal differentiation.

Finally, we found that the most notable difference observed in Mll4 vs Mll3 knockout mice was the significant loss of key lipid metabolism genes that regulate ferroptosis and identified that Mll4 loss may impair this process (Figure 4A).
