@KatherineVanAm1@NutritionJordan@PatSpinello That is a good point. Resources within our school for those suffering from food insecurity were prevalent, but I do not know of any services like soup kitchens in my home community. The school services, unfortunately, carried a stigma so many children shied away even if in need.
@M_Mitchell21@PatSpinello Cooking skills and food preservation techniques would be aspects of nutrition education that could also positively impact this group.

I believe these apps can be used healthily but the motives for usage can take a turn. For some, having a record of their intake can assist in making health-focused adjustments. For others, the numbers can create an unhealthy obsession that changes their relationship with food.

Changing up flavors in some of your favorite meals can be easier than you think! My go-to is trying different fresh loaves of bread for my toast and sandwiches. I was gifted some sourdough starter and can't wait to make my own loaf! What is your favorite way to change it up?
Frozen fruits and vegetables became a staple in my life when we quarantine began and we were encouraged to stay home. Low in cost and still providing nutritional benefits, frozen produce is an easy way to keep fruits and vegetables on hand.
Fridge: eggs, carrots, greens (of some sort)
Freezer: peas, bread (also of some sort), and fruit
Pantry: Rice, pasta, peanut butter 😍
Keeping these foods on hand leaves me with meal options even when a trip to the stores is not in my near future. What are yours?
Monitoring salt or salt-substitute consumption is a part of many people's daily lives. Take a look at these cooking techniques to see how to manage them in your own kitchen!
Green smoothies are one of my favorite breakfasts or afternoon snacks! I make mine with pineapple, strawberries, mango, spinach, and kale! A breakfast packed with essential nutrients is a great way to start the day.
Happy #NationalNutritionMonth! @USDA#FarmToSchool grants support activities (like those at Bishop Paiute Tribe in CA) that increase the amount of local foods served in child #nutrition programs & teach kids about food & ag.
