In violation of the Pretoria Cessation of Hostilities Agreement, the Ethiopian regime executed a drone strike in the Sheraro area of the Northwest Tigray Region this morning, resulting in fatalities and injuries among members of the Tigray Army during their routine activities. This breach is not an isolated incident; the regime has previously conducted drone strikes targeting civilians in various parts of Tigray. Justice and accountability for the genocide perpetrated by this regime and its allied forces against the Tigray people remain absent. Furthermore, the regime is reportedly preparing for another campaign aimed at exterminating the people of Tigray, having failed to subdue them through measures such as budget cuts, restrictions on fuel, medicines, food aid, and cash, alongside committing further atrocities. @SecRubio@StateDept@SenateForeign@SenatorShaheen@SenatorRisch@SenatorCardin@SenateGOP@SenateDems@BradSherman@antonioguterres
Hundreds of thousands of people died in the Tigray region of Ethiopia in a war a few years ago. Now war may be close to resuming there -- while also threatening the larger region, including South Sudan and of course Sudan.
#UN rights chief urges de-escalation as tensions rise in #Tigray
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk has called on all parties to take urgent steps toward de-escalation amid what he described as a precarious security and human rights situation in Ethiopia’s Tigray region.
In a statement issued today, Türk warned that recent fighting between the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (#ENDF) and regional Tigray Security Forces (#TSF) risks deepening an already fragile humanitarian and human rights crisis in northern Ethiopia.
“The situation remains highly volatile, and we fear it will further deteriorate, worsening the region’s already precarious human rights and humanitarian situation,” Türk said. He stressed the need for “concerted and sustained efforts” by all sides, with support from the international community, to reduce tensions through political dialogue and confidence-building measures rather than renewed armed confrontation.

This is yet another reminder that the genocide against Tigrayan civilians has not stopped.
Redae Amare was killed on January 31, 2026, when a drone operated by the Ethiopian regime of @AbiyAhmedAli struck the ISUZU truck he was driving in Enticho. He was from Mezutey in the Hawzien district and was the only son of a mother who had raised him alone after losing his father when he was a child.

‼️In Ethiopia 🇪🇹, the war in Tigray has just resumed. The last one (2020-2022) had caused 600,000 deaths...
This is an entire regional chain reaction being triggered, as the Tigray conflict is linked to Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, Libya, Chad...
🚨 The drone attacks have reportedly started - see the pictures coming from the Enticho area of Tigray central zone. Unless this is stopped before it gets out of control, the humanitarian crisis and the loss of lives is going to be scarily devastating!
I’m heartbroken and disappointed that Abiy’s regime didn’t heed the advise, reportedly given, by the US Dupty Sec of State @DeputySecState and @USAfricaCommand
People who were visiting Tigray are now stranded in Tigray due to @flyethiopian cancelling flights to all airports in Tigray. The sad news is that the airline is selling tickets that wouldn’t honor to its customers- not surprising since same airline is used to transport Ethiopian military personnel and equipment.
Banks are also cash dry which created economic anxiety in the region.

Deliberate targeting of civilians 👇🏻
We know drones are precision weapons. As Abiy consistently claims, every attack is deliberate and calculated. The ongoing attacks on Tigrayan civilians are deliberate and calculated.
The Ethiopian regime of Abiy Ahmed continues to deny the reality of a weaponized mass starvation in #Tigray. His regime is criminalizing independent aid efforts by labeling grassroots social media fundraising for starving people in IDP camps as "illegal".

The collective actions triggered by emerging social media leaders to end death by starvation in Tigray are exemplary both in message and method, and deserve support from all of us!
Context in numbers, figures, and maps:
Nearly half of all reported deaths in Tigray are due to starvation, most of them among IDPs.
An academic study covering November 2022–August 2023 found that starvation was the leading cause of death across all age groups, accounting for 49.3% of verified deaths. Children under five and women were among the most vulnerable.
Earlier investigations revealed that over 300 IDPs have died from starvation and lack of medical care at Hitsats IDP Camp in Northwestern Tigray since 2022. These are conservative numbers.
Since July 2025 alone, more than 50 additional deaths have been reported, placing thousands more lives at immediate risk.
Meanwhile, a dramatic cut in humanitarian aid has deepened the crisis. Food assistance dropped by 56.2%, from 1,657,018 people in January 2025 to just 725,839 in November 2025, mostly IDPs. This means 931,179 fewer people received life-saving support in just eleven months.
History and science are clear: where governance is responsive, famine does not exist. These deaths are not inevitable; they are the result of bad power politics, resource greed, and failed regimes.
The people of Tigray are facing extreme hunger and suffering unprecedented in their history. Reports from Tigrayan social media since yesterday consistently describe starvation across communities. These accounts must be taken seriously. Denial will not stop starvation—action will. #EndTheSilence #HumanityFirst ‼️

The dire humanitarian crisis at Hitsats and other IDP camps in Tigray, where hundreds of thousands of displaced persons from Western Tigray are facing starvation and medical shortages, has been underscored by recent reports confirming more than 50 deaths.
Accompanying images show malnourished elderly individuals and children in makeshift shelters, highlighting the urgent need for aid amid the lingering effects of the 2020-2022 Tigray war, which displaced millions.
The international community is urged to deliver emergency relief and enforce the 2022 Pretoria Cessation of Hostilities Agreement, as its incomplete implementation, particularly regarding the occupation of Western Tigray, hinders safe returns home.

The internally displaced people (IDPs) from Western Tigray, affected by the genocidal war, are facing a catastrophic situation in Hitsats and other IDP centers in Tigray. They are suffering from starvation and related challenges, and urgently require life-saving food, medicines, and emergency relief aid from the international community. They also call for the immediate implementation of the Pretoria Cessation of Hostility Agreement, enabling them to return to their homes and farming lands.
