‼️CLARITY is up for Senate votes at this moment and it is a great time for this @pgpzcash deep dive on how recent changes affect developers and takeaways for Zcash.
Across the United States, policymakers are reconsidering how large data centers should interact with the electric grid. Recent policy developments in Texas exemplify that broader trend. But not all large loads operate the same way.
A one-size-fits-all approach that treats flexible proof-of-work mining like an always-on enterprise data center risks penalizing facilities that can rapidly reduce consumption when the Texas grid is under strain.

If the ETF launch, cbZEC, or the $ZEC rally brought you to Zcash, welcome! 👋

Congress has a narrowing window to establish clear rules for digital assets while protecting the people who build and use decentralized technology. https://t.co/qZ7Rygxge4
I think the Zcash Community Grants Committee is a big part of why Zcash has survived and grown to where it is today, and will likely play a huge role in the future of Zcash, and I'll bet a lot of Zcashers—and almost everyone outside of Zcash—don't even know about it. ⤵️
The launch of $ZCSH, the world's first Zcash ETP, is incredibly important for many reasons. But IMO, the most important is the signal it sends: Zcash, traditional finance, and financial privacy can coexist within the U.S. regulatory system.
@BarrySilbert, @murphmarkd, @PeterMintzberg, @CraigSalm, @GoBankYourself, @julie_stitzel, and their colleagues at @DCGco and @Grayscale have been doing the hard work for years to explain why privacy-preserving financial technology belongs within the regulated financial system.
Yesterday was powerful evidence that they succeeded.
The importance of this moment for Zcash cannot be overstated.
The admin is putting folks (including the crypto space) on notice that it may soon impose secondary sanctions on “any entity that facilitates money laundering or sanctions evasion on behalf of Iran.”
Primarily the release focuses on conventional intermediaries or facilitators like Iranian exchanges, front companies, brokers, and payment networks.
It does not, however, set a hard limit on potentially imposing sanctions on noncustodial entities or developers. The language is intentionally broad: Treasury says it will target “any source” of the regime’s illicit revenue and “every economic lifeline” sustaining it.

Amazing to see Paul’s vision come together and so proud of what he’s built to ensure we have freedom in the land of the free.
Read the entire thing to see the scope of what this involves. Massive.
Also, the board is world class. I’m fortunate to know all of them personally. All stars. So good.
This one is deeply personal for me.
It has been both a privilege and a passion to spend the past several years building Pretty Good Policy from a series of conversations and gatherings into something that could have a real and lasting impact on crypto policy. Over the past year, that work has increasingly centered on Zcash.
ZODL has made this possible. None of this would have happened without Josh Swihart’s @jswihart leadership and his understanding that policymakers need to know why we are building this technology: to preserve freedom, financial privacy, individual autonomy, open innovation, and the ability to build and use lawful privacy-preserving technology without treating privacy itself as something inherently suspect.
Today, @zodl_co is announcing the next step: Pretty Good Policy for Zcash, or PGPZ @pgpzcash, is an independent 501(c)(4) dedicated to representing the Zcash ecosystem in public policy.
The timing is crucial. The CLARITY Act remains under consideration in Congress as lawmakers continue working through the details of a broader framework for digital-asset market structure. This week, crypto leaders were at the White House discussing the future of digital-asset policy. Yesterday, the CFTC convened the inaugural meeting of its Innovation Advisory Committee. This is exactly the kind of policy environment where Zcash, financial privacy, noncustodial technology, and the people building them need informed and credible representation.
My ambition is for PGPZ to earn a place alongside project-focused organizations like @SolanaInstitute, @HyperliquidPC and @bitcoinpolicy; to work closely with industry organizations such as @BlockchainAssn and @crypto_council; and to collaborate with groups like @coincenter, @fund_defi and @TheDRC_.
The goal isn’t to duplicate what they’re doing. It’s to make sure Zcash has an organization focused on representing its perspective and priorities in policy discussions, while working alongside the broader crypto policy community.
So I am asking the Zcash community for your help. If you agree that Zcash needs a serious, independent voice in the policy discussions shaping the future of crypto and financial privacy, please make your support known.

There is an extraordinary amount happening in Washington right now. I want to make sure Zcash has a seat at the table. 🛡️
After years of working on crypto policy issues (on the Hill, in DeFi, now @crypto_council) and investing in tokens and startups it's disorienting to see the pace at which cutting edge things are being addressed by the US gov.
Three incredible things this week:
- POTUS touts the effort to bring "@HyperliquidX into the United States" at the White House
- SEC drops long awaited Reg Crypto to enable compliant token capital raises
- CFTC asks for comment on compute futures including via perpetuals
And we still don't have Clarity. We've got to get this done. Can't let this moment slip.
It was great to see crypto industry leaders at the Whitehouse today, and I'm thrilled to see @HyperliquidX mentioned. Hats off to @HyperliquidPC for doing amazing work in DC!
It didn't happen today, but I'd like to make a very bold prediction. In the not too distant future, this will happen soon because @pgpzcash is coming on strong!
