Chiredzi Central Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) MP Ropafadzo Makumire was this morning stopped by Police from hosting elderly people at Tshovani Stadium for his 33rd birthday. He was told to take the guests to his house if he wished to continue with the programme. He however, reminded ZRP that the old people they barred from using the stadium are the same people who built it. He said it was hard to imagine Police excuse that he was trying to topple Government with the gathering. Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Torerai Moyo has given US$300 each to three Masvingo heads whose schools achieved top 5 results for Masvingo Province 2025 Zimsec A Level results. The money was given to them personally, ‘they can spent all of it on beer’, said the Minister. The heads who got the money are Agrippa Moyo Pamushana High;  Luckson Gondo, Hippo Valley and and Oddy Matongo Ndarama High. Bernadette Tamba has been elected the first female chairperson of the Zimbabwe Sugar Development Association (ZSDA) at elections held at Mkwasine Country Club this evening. Tamba, a former Chiredzi Town councillor won with 68 votes, beating Dr Munashe Shoko 45 and Darlington Moyo 2. She replaces Elisha Tamirepi. Saul Chin’anga was elected vice chairperson, Gabriel Thodhlana was elected secretary general and Effort Mtombeni was elected treasurer.

First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa is in Masvingo for two days and Police is lined up for almost 50km from Masvingo CBD to Mutendi where Mnangagwa allegedly slept. There are officers after every few hundred metres. Chilonga Bridge destroyed.....
Chilonga River Bridge, the lifeline between populous Chiredzi South and Chiredzi Town has been damaged by floods and immediately closed for use thereby cutting off thousands of villagers from essential services inluding hospitals and retail. Those who have to make it to hospitals must now follow a 150km longer route of a bad dust road. The Zanu PF Gov has every year since independence promised but failed to build a new and proper bridge across Runde River amid dozens of drowning people every rain season.

Newly appointed and first beneficiary of the upgraded Masivamele chieftainship, Hatisani Mabasa (81) together with his son died in a road accident on Friday in Chiredzi. He was being driven in his newly Government allocated vehicle by a driver. Burial awaits the arrival of his children who live in the Diaspora in South Africa. Chiredzi DDC, Lovemore Chisema confirmed the news.

Bikita Minerals run by China's Sinomine Company is spending US$3,4m on community projects with the bulk of it, US$2m injected into rural electrification in Gutu, Zaka and Bikita where transformers were supplied and schools, clinics and business centers connected to power lines. Chinese companies have been accused of plundering local resources without ploughing back into communities and this programne is a welcome relief.

Mwenezi Development Training Center sponsored by USAID is involved in a US$960k drought relief programme in Chiredzi. 15 boreholes will be rehabilitated and some of them solarised and latrines will be constructed to stop open defecation. The project will run for a year, said Promise Makoni.

Chiredzi District has received 16 metric tonnes of the Tongaat Hulett donated molasses and distribution to deserving farmers has started. Chiredzi District Agritex Officer, Tongai Bodi said 9 tonnes are currently being distributed. The molasses are to be used as cattle supplement feed to alleviate the effects of the El Nino induced drought.
