Journalist and activist Azra Alam, who previously spent around 40 days in Attock Jail after protesting in support of Kashmir, is once again facing police action only days after her release.
According to reports, police raided her home last night while she was away and took her father Alam Hussain, younger brother Taimur, and uncles Amir Hussain and Talib Hussain into custody.
If the authorities have a lawful case against Azra Alam, they should proceed against her through due process. On what legal basis are members of her family being detained in her absence?
This raises grave concerns of collective punishment and intimidation. A person’s family cannot be used as leverage simply because she speaks for Kashmir.
The authorities must immediately disclose the whereabouts and legal status of those detained and either produce them before a court or release them.
If raising your voice for Kashmir is treated as a crime, does the punishment now extend to your entire family as well?

URGENT | DADYAL, DHAN GALI ENTRY POINT
Reports from Dadyal indicate that security forces are continuing to fire on unarmed civilians at the Dhan Gali entry point.
Chaudhry Usman has reportedly been killed, while further casualties are feared.
Residents also report that motorcycles belonging to civilians standing by the roadside have been set on fire by security forces.
This is an extremely serious and rapidly developing situation. The firing must stop immediately, civilians must be protected, and those responsible for unlawful use of force must be held accountable.
We urge international human rights organisations, diplomatic missions and international media to urgently monitor Dadyal and seek independent access to the area.

The demolition of a decade-old an outhouse/guest house belonging to the father of Khawaja Mehran Arshad a member of the JKJAAC Core Committee, raises serious questions about due process and abuse of administrative power.
The AC, DC and Commissioner must explain under what law and written order this property was demolished, and whether the owner was given prior notice and an opportunity to be heard.
Khawaja Mehran Arshad’s placement on the Fourth Schedule cannot, by itself, justify action against his father’s property.
If the demolition was lawful, publish the order and legal basis.
One individual’s legal status cannot become collective punishment for an entire family.

A young man from Chak Dhamni, Faizan Shaan, has reportedly been killed in firing by security forces near the Rangers checkpoint at Attock Petrol Pump in Rawalakot , Pakistan administered Jammu Kashmir.
He was travelling on a motorcycle with another young man when the shooting occurred. The second rider was reportedly injured and taken into custody.
What followed is equally disturbing: local accounts say residents were initially prevented from reaching Faizan’s body, with further firing reported when people attempted to approach it. Women and local residents later gathered at the checkpoint demanding that his body be handed over to his family.
A family has lost a son. A community has lost another young life.
This cannot be allowed to disappear into silence.
There must be an independent investigation into exactly what happened, the wounded detainee must be given immediate medical and legal access, and Faizan Shaan’s family must receive truth, justice and accountability.
How many more young Kashmiris must die before the firing stops?
