Afghan civil society stands united in calling on the UN Security Council to act urgently under Chapter VII. Immediate action is needed to protect civilians, uphold the UN Charter, and prevent further regional instability.

The recent destruction of musical instruments in Afghanistan is more than the burning of objects, it is an attempt to silence culture, identity, and artistic expression.
Music is not a crime. Art is not a threat. Cultural rights are human rights.
The international community must stand with Afghan artists and protect their right to create, teach, and preserve their heritage. Silence only normalizes repression.

After the People’s Tribunal ruling, international mechanisms like the ICC, the ICJ, and the UN’s investigative body each have a role to play—but accountability requires persistence. Civil society must stay vigilant, document abuses, and push for justice.

No Representative from the De Facto Authorities Present at the People’s Tribunal
Moments ago, the Chair of Panel of Judges of the People’s Tribunal for Women of Afghanistan announced that an open invitation had been extended to representatives of the de facto authorities to defend. However, no one appeared on their behalf.
This absence once again highlights the lack of accountability and unwillingness of those in power to respond to serious allegations of human rights violations in Afghanistan.
