People in #Hitsats IDP are not just hungry.
They are severely starved, dehydrated with no medication.
Giving food alone to long-starved can be dangerous.
They need medical screening, IV fluids, therapeutic feeding & medicines.
This is a medical emergency, not only food drop. @who
People are dying right now in #Hitsats & #AdiMehameday IDP camp in Tigray. From blocked & inconsistent aid.
This is 2025. Starvation is a policy failure, not a mystery.
delaying makes it worse.

Hitsas - the Abergele of 2024
My EthiopiaInsight article from almost a year ago, 25-01-2024, we discussed and debated these same issues that are prevalent in Hitsas- then it was Abergele!
What didn’t change: the genocidal plan of PP and the failed TER leadership!
The heart-wrenching images emerging from Tigray depict a crisis of monumental proportions as famine, caused by war and the failure of crops due to drought, locusts, and unseasonal rain, tightens its grip on the region.

Accountability when?
Are we really ok to stay quiet and focus only on the symptoms of the long and devastating challenges instead of addressing the root causes? Really?
For how long?
In my view, this is precisely the moment when accountability matters most.
As Einstein reminded us, we cannot expect different results if we keep repeating the same approaches.
It’s time for real change, starting with leadership at the @TigrayEmergencyResponse office and other bureaus directly responsible for this ongoing humanitarian crisis.
It would be inconsistent to demand accountability from PP while ignoring failures within our own institutions.
We must first fix what is broken at home before pointing outward.
YES, PP is the mastermind of evil on Tigray but the ones at home need to be held accountable soon!
Media, focus on accountability in Tigray so that we have all the energy to jointly address the PP long term challenge!!

More than 6,600 IDPs at the Addi Mehammedai IDP camp are on the verge of death from hunger and disease. Those who escaped the massacres in Western Tigray and managed to reach IDP camps in the rest of Tigray are now perishing in silence.

There must be a full medical and humanitarian assessment of all IDPs Across #Tigray
Across informal sites
Across borders in Sudan
No data means no accountability.
No assessment means preventable deaths.

IDPs in #Ethiopia#Tigray scattered: Shire, Mekelle, Mai Tsebri, rural areas.
Others are in Sudan.
Many are unseen. Uncounted. Untreated.
You can not respond to a crisis you refuse to fully assess. #TigrayStarves@UNOCHA@UN@WHO@UNICEF@WFP
After the war, the neglect continues.
#Hitsats IDPs are being left to starve in plain sight.

Emergency aid. Medical supplies. Now.
No one should die of hunger. Anywhere.
One former soldier who lived through the ordeal was vindicated by the justice system but he is still imprisoned, Tesfalem Berhe, director at Human Rights First From #Tigray is why they are holding them
