🚨💸 REVEALED: The Hidden Hand Behind PubPeer, Retraction Watch, and COS

In the mid-2010s, a quiet but powerful trio emerged under the guise of “scientific integrity”: PubPeer, Retraction Watch, and the Center for Open Science (COS). All were quietly bound by a single financial lifeline—Arnold Ventures (@Arnold_Ventures), the so-called “philanthropy” of John and Laura Arnold.

⚠️🧾 This is not ordinary support. The financial overlap is total. Arnold Ventures is the backbone of this entire ecosystem:

• PubPeer received $412,000 in 2016 and another $150,000 in 2019
• Retraction Watch (@RetractionWatch) leaned on Arnold's funding, with earlier support from MacArthur and Helmsley
• COS (@OSFramework), the heavyweight hub, got $10M + $7.5M in 2016, and $4.1M in 2018

Together, these grants fused the three into one tightly coordinated ecosystem, designed not just to “monitor” science—but to dominate it.

📅 Timeline tells the story: The 2015–2016 period marks the convergence of Arnold’s money across all three groups—scaling, interconnecting, and arming them simultaneously.

⚠️ But that’s not all: PubPeer’s sole reliance on Arnold’s grants makes it effectively his entity. Retraction Watch and COS—also funded by Arnold—partnered to host the Retraction Database on COS’s Open Science Framework.

➡️ Meanwhile, PubPeer’s unchecked anonymity protections, reinforced by Arnold’s funds in 2016, enabled, until recently and before being exposed by ScienceGuardians, years of untraceable academic harassment and mass dossier-building by the Network Mob, weaponized into the smear machine we’ve now laid bare.

🏴‍☠️ COSIG: A Fraudulent Whitewash Initiative

Among the Mob’s most desperate recent maneuvers was the launch of COSIG (Collection of Open Science Integrity Guides), fronted by Reese Richardson—a PubPeer Network member entangled in crime, who has publicly confessed to Wire Fraud, Computer Fraud (CFAA violations), Identity Misrepresentation, and University Policy Violations—offenses that, if prosecuted, could soon lead to prison time, federal fines, and the revocation of his PhD.

Not surprisingly, also hosted by COS, this initiative was amplified by compromised journalists and PubPeer-aligned actors. Its aim? To salvage PubPeer’s sinking credibility amid mounting criticism over manipulation and orchestrated academic attacks.

Let’s not forget where the money began. John Arnold made his fortune with an $8M Enron bonus—earned right before the company’s catastrophic collapse riddled by fraud and scandal. That wealth, later multiplied by Centaurus Energy, is now being used to reshape academia—under the pretense of “integrity”.

The centralized control over post-publication review, retractions, and data infrastructure raises critical questions:

Let’s be clear: there’s a stark distinction between accusation and self-confession. Richardson’s crimes are based on his own admissions and self-implications, in writing:

⚖️ He confessed to:

⚠️Cheating by exploiting Northwestern’s systems, violating the CFAA (18 U.S.C. �� 1030).
⚠️ Providing resources and training for illegally obtaining .edu email addresses, enabling identity fraud (18 U.S.C. § 1028) and potential conspiracy (18 U.S.C. § 371).
⚠️ Creating fake papers and citation metrics, engaging in wire fraud (18 U.S.C. § 1343).
⚠️ Manipulating academic platforms like @ResearchGate and Google Scholar, further violating wire fraud and CFAA.
⚠️ Using a fake identity to bypass verification processes, reinforcing identity and wire fraud charges.

⚖️ Legally, fraud is fraud—those committing fraud under the pretext of “exposing fraud” are equally culpable under federal law (e.g., 18 U.S.C. § 1343, § 1030).

🚨 Richardson is an established member of the PubPeer Network Mob (1,056 entries), tightly coordinating with them and attending their meetings worldwide (📸 Image 2, from Perpetrator 4’s derogatory blog). His prosecution is critical to extract information about the Mob’s malicious activities—harassing, extorting, and defaming the academic community.
